IS "DRUGI NAJWIĘKSZY" GOOD POLISH?

The onslaught of English over the last 2 decades has created a slew of kalki -- (carbon copy) words and phrases to mention only "trzy w jednym" (three in one). I'm sure there are some on PF who have heard it enough enough by now to regard it as "normal Polish".
Another is "second largest" as in: Łódź is Poland's second biggest city = Łódź jest drugim największym miastem w Polsce. Is that acceptable? Does it sound OK to you?
Persoanlly I would say: Łódź jest drugim co do wielkości miastem w Polsce.

You know there is this interesting thing called 'google'. I just did some quick googling and found some interesting stuff. If you want to know what it is, you can do the work yourself.

One calque I utterly hate is "jeden z ...." when there's no antecedent or further description. It seems completely wrong to me but seems to have increased in usage in the last few years.

How about "Łódź jest drugim pod względem wielkości miastem w Polsce"?

Anyway, I hear Kraków passed Łódź in size now.

Both:
"Łódź jest drugim, pod względem wielkości, miastem w Polsce."
"Łódź jest drugim co do wielkości miastem w Polsce."
are ok but I prefer the second one.
