DECYZJA (which I know means "decision") stwierdzam, że (my name) posiada obywatelstwo polski.

Tough luck Myszka, I try to console myself with the knowledge that I only have permanent residence rather than full citizenship. Stiff upper lip and all that.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! REALLY?!!?!?! I mean "tak"? Słuznie? Prawda? OMG (Mój Bóg) :-) Thank you !
Then what were they saying about me having 14 days to appeal? What does the letter in fact say? (I think that's what it said, nie?) My Polish is bad as it is, and me trying to translate this Polish LAWYER language was driving me crazy. It seemed so somber!

Really really really????? Woo-hooo!!!! I am soooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dziękują (Pocałunek)

And, mafketis, why do you say "tough luck", ? I wanted Polish citizenship...? And where are you a permanent resident? US or Poland?

Then what were they saying about me having 14 days to appeal?

Polish bureaucratic letters _always_ have that, even when the answer is positive. Don't worry I was thrown off a time or two by that myself.

quick dirty translation of the relevant parts:

I confirm that XXX possesses Polish citizenship. On the basis of (law numbers) the administrative process declines to justify its decision since it agrees entirely with the demand/desire of the (petitioning) party.

information:

The (petitioning) party has the right to appeal to the (minister) within 14 days from receiving this decsision....

I'm not sure if this is good or bad in Poland. In the US, (political asylum), your fate is ultimately decided by one person. If they don't buy your story, you are given a letter that states you appear before a Judge in 14 days and he/she determines your fate. Rarely, 1 out of five cases is ever reversed. Your probably not trying to get P.A., but keep checking if your free and clear. I hope it is Whoo hoo! The process alone is so emotional and nerve wracking. Good Luck!

Yay! I am from Chicago, Torq. Thank you for the welcome! I am very proud at this moment. And Sadieann, I will contact the embassy once again (you are not kidding about this being emotional and nerve-wracking!!) to see if I get a passport, or a birth certificate or...SOMETHING...besides the very somber letter I quoted in my first post to show my citizenship. I mean, don't I at least get a T-Shirt? :-)

And thank you to everyone who posts here, helping us through the minefield that can be the Polish language! :-)

Given the name of the thread (bad news) and your posting that they have granted you citizenship I thought you were being facetious and I was playing along.

I'm a US citizen (no Polish ancestory that I know of) but current permanent resident of Poland (with no plans on returning to the states any time soon - the ..... situation there isn't very encouraging).

Well done Myszka, a Polish citizenship for somebody who doesn't speak any Polish and cannot even find out what the decision was.

The US is in a dire recession. Right now, becoming a resident is a good call. Make sure you have dual citizenship. Keep your options open. Many are leaving the US. I joke that if it gets to bad I'll move there permanently. Health care is free and our money is still worth something.

Yeah, and you oughta see how I speak English! Frightening! And, Ted, I did find out! These nice people helped me. And I can speak Polish, but the part saying I had 14 days to appeal threw me off, I wasn't sure if I was reading it correctly, so asked these good people for confirmation. Thanks for your helpful comment though. I wish you have the same good luck as I have had in your endeavors as well. Pa.

Congratulation myszka !!!

myszka:
but the part saying I had 14 days to appeal threw me off,

The part "pouczenie" has to be included for the document to be valid.

Pouczenie

quote]

At the end it states that, because this decision meets applicants (yours) all demands then (because of that) it (the decision) will be executed/valid before the required 14 days pass.

Which means you don't need to wait 14 days for the procedure to be finalised.

no offense Myszka but i think this is a good point, i must say if i found somebody had been given UK citizenship without knowing any or little English i would be pretty annoyed and asking, do they really deserve it?? have they earned it??

I hope you can see where i and others are coming from
