gym does not have a good translation in Polish - but ther is no such word as gymnasia in Polish that corresponds to 'gym'. Polish word gimnazjum refers to something completely different . (a middle school)

If one means gym with weight lifting I think people usually say siłownia, right?

I've also heard "centrum fitnessowe" more than once. Probably very colloquial Polish. And a fitness center can be more than a gym where you do weight lifting.

Obviously people like to take English words and add a Polish ending, especially adjectives.
Sometimes you can even see/hear this kind of words in comercials etc.

Yes, of course. It happens a lot. Did I say that it didn't? I wasn't judging anyone.

the thing neither 'fitness' or (centrum/klub fitnesowe/fitnes(s)u nor 'siłownia' in Polish are precise/good translation of English gym)

for example you got gyms in English schools - in Polish we got 'sale gimnastyczne' (this is plural singular is 'sala gimnastyczna') in smaller schools or 'hale sportowe' larger objects.

fitnes(s) is rather for ladies here in Poland and no bodybuilding guy will say he's going to fitness - he goes to 'siłownia' (colloquially 'siłka') which I believe is called in turn simply 'gym' in English (correct me if I am wrong)
