quick question. asked my mom if Piot was Pete in Polish, but she said there was no short form for Peter. is this true? i know there is Piotrek, and a few other ways to say it, but no short form to Peter?

Piotr is Peter

The form Piotrek is used if you are familiar with the person. (Hardly short, but it's a short name to begin with.) Also Piotru¶.

Is Pieter a dialectic form? If so, is it typical of any particular region?
