Hello all, Could someone translate this poem by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska into English? Thank you ------------------------------ Pocalunki ("Kisses) by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska: Wciąż powtarzasz, uparcie i skrycie Patrzysz w okno i smutek masz w oku Przecież mnie kochasz nad życie Sam mi mówiłeś przeszłego roku Nie widziałam cię już od miesiąca I nic, jestem może bledsza, trochę śpiąca, Trochę bardziej milcząca Lecz widać można żyć bez powietrza Gdy się miało szczęście, które się nie trafia Czyjeś ciało i ziemię całą A zostanie tylko, tylko fotografia To to jest bardzo mało Powiedziałeś mi: kiedy do mnie piszesz Nie wystukuj wszystkiego na maszynie Dopisz jedną linię własną ręką Kilka słów, doprawdy nic wielkiego Tak tak tak.... Wciąż się śmiejesz, lecz coś tkwi poza tym Patrzysz w niebo na rzeźby obłoków Przecież ja jestem i niebem, i światem Sam mi mówiłeś zeszłego roku Nie widziałam cię... -----------------

You keep on saying, insistance...avoidance You gaze through the window, your eyes filled with sadness But you love me above life It was you who told me last year A month went by, when last I saw you Oh well, more pale now and sleepy you might say A bit more silent Somehow survived deprived of air When you are happy and it can't be real You own his body and the Earth around But what is left, just simple photo Is it enough, you think? Hi, Jester. I tried to be as close to the author's words as possible and at the same time I put just a bit of my understanding of what the poetesse wanted to say (at least in my opinion). It is a really powerful poem. Thank you for posting it.

Thank you very much for your translation. I came across the poem in the form of a song interpreted by Ewa Demarczyk. It sounded beautiful to me even without understanding the lyrics, but it is now so much more so.
