'znajdowac sie' - What does it mean?

Hi. I have just come accross this word - 'znajdować sie'. It seems to mean 'to be'. Am i correct in saying this? And if yes, when is it used as opposed to 'Być?

"to find oneself" (as well) apparently, not sure what context it would be used in though...

Gdzie to jest? - Where is it; To jest w Warszawie - It is in Warsaw.

Gdzie to się znajduje? - Where is it located?; To się znajduje w Warszawie (a rather awkward phrase for a native Polish speaker, but a correct one) - It is located in Warsaw.

I guess that "it's located" would be the closest equivalent of "to się znajduje".
