Hello everyone.

My name is Sean and I am trying to find my Polish roots etc.

My Grandad came over to England after the war, and now he is his late 80's i want to learn abit more about his roots.

His surname is Dubif (which I think is very rare and uncommon). No one in my family can tell me anything all I know is That his first name is Feliks and either born or from Lvov.

Please help me to try and find abit more on my roots.

Thank you for your time and I look forward in hearing from you.

Yours Sincerley

Sean.

Welcome to the forum. There are a couple of Sticky threads in the Geneology Section you should check out. Wroclaw (one of the Mods) is quite a good guy when it comes to resources, so give him a shout.

Start here though.

Welcome on board. It's going to be quite hard to trace those names as they are rare. If standard options don't bring any joy, some here can suggest alternative ones.

I'll sort some more links out for you in a day or two but there are quite a few Dubif's around the world.

<scrolling down the page it allows you to search via certain countries unfortunately Poland is not on the list>

This last link <here> looks to be a reasonable starting point. I don't have enough time to do more searches for you but will do a few more in a few days if you wish ?

Good Luck :)

Hi Sean,
I checked nasza-klasa.pl but there is no single person with such a surname. What is more, the surname does not sound Polish. Ask your grandad what city he is from etc.

Ive got similar problem, my grandmas brother stayed in England after the Second World War (he was in Anders Army), he married an Englishwoman and they had children, he used to write letters with my grandma but my grandmas home burned down and they lost contact. do you have any idea how I can search for a person in your country?? his name was Jan Burliga and he was born 3 July 1922 in Budzów (Lesser Poland).
