Genealogy help required - Iwasik...

Hi, I am searching my polish roots, I am mosty interested in my fathers , father. ( To make a long story short) My grandfather, Who came to the USA as a baby. They came to this country leaving siblings back in Poland. I really dont understand why they were never sent for but they never came here. My father has no relatives from his parents. Just him, it is quite a mystery. My last name is Iwasik. Is that even Polish? thanks for any help.

hi, No. My grandfather was too young and his older sister would not talk about it.

hi, my paternal grandmothers madien name was Harasik, i was told she was part austrian. i believe she was born and grew up on an estate, or sort of aristocracy west of lemberg/lwow. i was told one of her parents or grandparents or somepart of her family came from salzburg. my paternal grandfather was polish from warsaw and was a solider during ww2. my grandmother as a teenager became a german nurse? i cant figure that one out.? i dont know if harasik is polish(which i think it is) or germanic/austrian. unfortuanley thats the only name i have of hers, or can find, as she died 8 years ago. she was born 1924. so i hope someone can help me out as well as you. as the suffix -ik/-sik, i believe is polish/czech/german.

My mother's maiden name was Iwasik (not sure of spelling). She was born in 1925 and lived in Canada. She legally changed her last name to Windsor. I was told we were German, but always suspected we were Jewish or Polish.
