Dear Members, according to a family tradition a jewish couple (Samuel and Susan) together with two young children (Annie and Emily about two and three years old respectively) left Poland and arrived at London in 1871. Emily grew up in the UK but kept a memory of her name which seems to have been some form of Barratt or similar in spite of two marriages to a Smith and a Davies. We understand that the name Barratt can be derived from a Polish word meaning Benedictus or the Blessed one. If anyone can help with more information about the name or the couple mentioned we would be most gratefull. We would dearly like to trace any relatives surviving in The Baltic Region from the dreadfull events of the Second World War if at all possible. Thanking all Dafydd Barratt.
