Where to look for information about family possibly born near Katowice?

I believe that my Father was born in the Katowice area, and that the family owned at least one Fiat showroom - as I understand it (I didn't get much chance to ask my dad and my mum is also elderly, I was a blessing very late in life for them both shall we say) the family also was quite wealthy, had a large house and had servants. All this was naturally before WWII when most of them were killed - the house was, I understand, appropriated by the Nazis. I am going on so little info, I will be contacting Fiat obviously. I think this post is a statement of intent rather than a "how to", though if anyone has any tips I'm extremely grateful - I came here to find out who I truly am, after all :)
