Does the name Semiaticky exist? (Or similar sounding name)

Sven K. (Temp)   Mar 24, 09, 19:06 /  #
Hello,

I am trying to track down a doctor who might have some information regarding my birthfather. The only information I was able to get was that the doctor's last name is Semiaticky and I was told he was Polish (hense why I came to this forum).

I don't even know if that is the proper spelling since I have only heard the name over the phone from my birthfather's former (and very elderly) landlord.

So, Does anyone have an idea if the name exists or what the possible other spellings might be?

Thank you very much.

"Siemiatycki" would probably be a good bet, assuming the way you transliterated it isn't too far off, and that the doctor or his ancestors didn't change the name to make it easier to pronounce, at which point all bets are off.

Ah, yes. The number of hits I get from google with that spelling goes from about 8 to 138 000! Surely one of them might lead to the right one.

That should help me a lot. :)

Thank you, you've been a big help.

Siemiatycki arose as a toponymic nickname to describe someone from the NE town of Siemiatycze. Probably of Belarussian origin from siemia (family), hence the locality might be translatable as Familyville.
