Need help with Stoppy

My husbands ancestors on his fathers side are from Poland. The name before they had it changed at Ellis Island we believe was either Stoplowski or Stoplovski, not sure which and I am probably spelling it wrong. The problem is I can not find any history or records of it at all, so I thought I might try here to see if anyone knew anything close to it at all. Help appreciated.

Could it have been Stopowski? There are 42 people in Poland using it, 25 of them in the Kujawy (Bydgoszcz-Toruń) region of northern Poland. There's no-one registered under the spellings you gave.
