Polish name or nickname "Chudka"

Has anyone heard of the name "Chudka" being used in Poland? I have a note in some files on my Grandmother's Polish family about a relative by that name, but it doesn't seem to be an actual name. The family surname was Goszczyński, and they were from the Poznan or Gneizo area.

Any information would be appreciated.

Chukda from the root "chud" (lean, thin, poor, meagre) could have been a nickname given to some thin and lanky character or an inhabitant of Chudek, Chudzewo, etc-

It isn't spelled this way, of course, but it seems like "Chudka" would be pronounced similar to the term, "ciotka" or "aunt" in Polish. Just a thought.

It is pronounced HOOD-ka. The ch in Polish has an h-sound as in German or Scottish (loch).

Thanks, Polonius--of course, you're right.

The hard "h" sound of the Polish "ch" always trips me up.
