maybe you just need to look for surname Czwórka instead (I don't think Czworka would be anything popular - one can have doubts whether there is any Polish surname like Czworka)

Does anyone else know anything about the surname Czwórka? I'm really interested in knowing everything about it and i can't find anything anywhere. Except for there is a village in Poland called Czwórka Village. I've been searching for information for about 3 years now. I could use any information anyone has about it. Thank You Very Much!

Józef Che³moński: "Czwórka"

The name of the painting is "Czwórka", it is an old word that means something like "The four", as in the four houses pulling the carriage.

I am completely going to guess this next part, but like the surname "Smith" comes from being a black smith, perhaps the surname "Czwórka" comes from being a horse and cart driver?

I don't know if that helps at all but since you have been searching for 3 years, I thought it was worth a mention.

Best of luck.

Only 3 people in Poland named Cwórka and they live in £ód¼ or vicinity (presumably one family). The name means quartet or foursome.

Polonius3:
foursome.

You are going to have to put that in context no?

And if it is true, how come there are only 3?

Just kidding, of course.

Polonius3, are you Polish and do you live in Poland?
I just always wondered that about you.

I'm a US-born 100% Polish American with four Polish-born grandparents who came from the Konin (paternal) and Lublin (maternal) areas. I was raised in the once predominantly Polish enclave-suburb (you had to drive through some part of Detroit to leave it!) of Hamtramck, Michigan -- home of Kowalski Sausage Co., Dodge Main and Chevrolet Gear & Axle. I have lived in Wisconsin and Michigan, travelled to Poland many times and spent a few years in Warsaw. I am interested in onomastics (name research) and most every other aspect of Polish and Polonian history, sociology, language, cuisine, ethnography, etc.
