Okay i wanted to figure something out here. I have already found out that Bezele was some programme on VivaPolska, and seen a few videos with some rude Polish chavs (LOL) under the title of bezele but i still don't quite grasp the essence of this word in Polish. What does it mean when you call people bezele? Is it something like 'ziomy', or more like 'buraki'? I asked my sister and she said there was a hip-hop tune about them, i'm not into Polish hip hop so i really didn't know until now. The reason i ask is because at work there are 3 Polish people (they are brothers and sisters) and all the other Poles that work here with us call them 'bezele'. I wanna know why??
I know that 'ciapaci' is what some Poles in UK call people from India or Pakistan. Why 'ciapaci'??
(to the people who dunno me, i am a native Polish speaker but i live in UK and i asked a few other Polish peeps about these 2 words but they really arent sure where they came from, so i thought i'd ask on here)
Thank you in advance for your help :) J xox

Looks like the Polish language has already started moving on without you. Don't worry. As time goes by, this can even happen to you even if you stay in your own country. "What the blazes are these young people going on about?" Welcome to senility.

Mispronounced chapati?

it is not mispronunced but slightly changed to make it sound more polish.ciapaty sound like a polish word which means "spotted". they are called like that because of chapati-their bread.

Well this was an explanation I got by one Pole back in 2004. I like your one better, but they might as well both be right. I didn't like the undertone of that word though.

ah thank you people, thank you! chapati eh, is that like naan bread or something? i was thinking it might have something to do with um the cow worshipping business, as the cows have 'spots' (ciapki) on them ha ha... me and my imagination eh.
thank you for the video puercoespin, i do know that song from somewhere! so basically bezele are 'dudes' who think they are cool (wearing chains, driving their pimped out maluszek with hip hop blasting from the speakers), but they really are buraki! that really makes sense lol! dzieki!

Can someone construct a sentence with the word "bezele" in it, please.
How does it differ from "ziom" ?

I asked my colleagues at work today what "Bezele" meant.
Half didn't know or had not heard of it, two said it was just a comedy trio and the word didnt mean anything.

Any nativespeakerums able to pomoc ?

( By the way - I dont think the word chapati is a very nice one ! )

I'd answer the same if sb asked me this question. The word is known thanks to the song but I don't think it means anything on its own. It certainly hasn't become a part of everyday slang vocab.

Yep, I'd say it's rather derogatory.

Thanks Jova - thats a lot clearer now.
Since its hard for me to remember proper, useful Polish words, I think I will just forget about these two :-)

why is it degoratory?don't make things up.it's just a funny word.
if anyone called them ni..ers then ok i can agree.we call the french "zabojady"-frogeaters because of what they eat and nobody says that it's wrong to say that.

I just tried to look up this word in some online slang dictionaries. I figured out it's a word made up by some rapper. Probably it means some kind of a wannabe (aspiring to be cool and have a hip-hop style) but I'm not sure of it. It is probably pejorative. Or maybe it means someone who really is cool. But most probably it means nothing.

According to Totalny Słownik Najmłodszej Polszczyzny (The Total Dictionary of The Newest Polish Language), the word may come from English slang words:
bezel, bezzeled, bezzled out, bezzy (to be found on urbandictionary.com/).

In general, it is not a word that... hmmm.... an intellectual would use. It is a part of the so-called hip-hop slang, which in Poland is used only by our cultural equivalent of chavs. A person using such vocabulary (if not ironically, or in a quotation) compromises him or herself. Such words are nothing useful - I don't understand most of them and have never had a need to, even being at the age of the people who use them.

Become a rapper, Szkotja2007. Then you can invent your own words.

ooh, this thread is still alive, good good lol. i've been thinking and came to the conclusion that maybe those peeps who get called bezele are being called this way because Bezele is a trio and there are 3 of those people at work. Or maybe just because they listen to Polish hip hop?! I still havent figured whether being a 'bezel' is a good thing or a bad thing, nobody seems to know! after all it is a word made up by some rappers... anyhoo, i am really glad that so many of you cared to reply! it's awesome i can just come here, ask something and get my reply almost straight away! thanks :D
