BYKI for Polish

I've used the BYKI Free Edition to start learning Polish, and have learned all the lessons available, including all the ones I can download. I'm thinking about upgrading to the paid BYKI, but want others' opinions first.

Is there alot more lists to learn, or just a few extra? It says "up to" 75 more lists, but that can be misleading. I don't want to waste $50 if it's just another 15.

Does it actually teach you the language, or just more taxi and hotel phrases?

Learn Polish! (also from Transparent Language) is only like another $20 and seems to have alot more. Maybe this would be better to get? It looks like I wouldn't be able to just spend $20 for the upgrade from BYKI Plus to Learn Polish!, but would have to pay the full amount. If that's the case, maybe I should get skip BYKI Plus and get Learn Polish!.

Or does someone else know of a better program. I really like the way BYKI Free teaches and would prefer to use a program with a similar teaching method.

LearnFast but its not out yet. It has mnemonics and learning by music etc.

I would say buy books that teach lessons, they are usually much cheaper and teach so much more.

Thanks, Davey. You bring up a good point and another question. I have thought about getting a Polish language textbook, but never could find one that looked very good. Anyone know of any good ones?

I personally have 'Cześć, jak się masz?:Spotkamy się w Polsce', 'Cześć, jak się masz: Spotkamy się w Europie', and "Z Polskim Na Ty"......The first two are more for beginner while the 2nd is for a more advanced speaker. I also have 'Teach Yourself Polish' By Joanna Michalak-Grey....all very good books!

Thanks! Know where I could buy a copy? Google only returns 4 hits for "Cześć, jak się masz?:Spotkamy się w Polsce", none of them with the ability to purchase. :(

On a side note, I'm finding their name extremely hilarious.
Because "BYKI" in colloquial polish means... grammar errors :D

LOL! Good to know. Funny, I actually did find an error in one of their lessons (they had chciałbym and chciałabym backwards).

I work at BYKI.com.

Byki was originally "Before You Know It," but people abbreviated it as BYKI and now that's the name. Almost any short word will have a meaning is some languages, and it's pretty funny sometimes.

There are a lot more lists in Byki Deluxe Polish. About 70 or 75. Different languages have slightly different numbers, which is where the "up to 75" comes from.

There's also a free Byki Blog for Polish you might want to try if you haven't already. There are Byki blogs in a number of languages, but I've heard particularly good things about the Polish blog. If you like it, you can get a feed in a number of different ways.

Note that Byki Deluxe also lets you make your own lists and edit other lists. And it adds quite a bit of functionality over Byki Express.

We try to give people something of real value for free. The Deluxe version of each language really is even better though.
