Dates in Polish ( examples )

kidnapped   Mar 11, 07, 03:00 /  #
In Polish we say: day, month, year.

In English you say: month, day, year.

For example ( in Polish ):

23.05.1979r. = 23 maja 1979 roku
17.01.1983r. = 17 stycznia 1983 roku

In English:

11.14.1928 = November 14, 1928
03.15.2002 = March 15, 2002

Not always true.
You stated "American English" . In Australia is always day-month-year
eg: 23.05.2007 = 23 May 2007 or 23rd of May 2007

I think it might help to summerise:

Polish DD.MM.YYYY
American MM.DD.YYYY
Australian DD.MM.YYYY
English DD.MM.YYYY

How do you place days of the week in the date? For example, as I learned in America, English dates (w/ days of weeks) are like this:

Saturday, May 23, 2009

How is that in Polish?

Sobota, 23 maj, 2009 r.

sobota, 23 maja, 2009

maj - nominative

23 maja - short for 23 dzień maja (just like in English I suppose)

23th day of May

maja is genetive in this case (of maj obviously)

It means 6 in Japanese :)

It is a changed form of rok, which means year in Polish.

Why do you write English in such a slovenly way? Languages too have the right to be treated correctly.
Sincerely, Hawi
