Need help with spelling "Theresa"

Hi
I am new to this forum.
I've been looking on the internet for the correct spelling for the nickname for the english name Theresa. I only know how to pronounce the nickname, and I always thought is was Polish but last night my mom thought it was French Canadian. (She also thought Kokopelli was italian LOL; it's american indian) I think its Polish because Theresa was a relative on our Polish side of the family.
Anyway, we always pronounced it "Tuh-di". "Tuh" rhymes with "duh" and "di" rhymes with "lie".
My spelling guesses: Thudai, Thedi, Tudai
Any help would be much appreciated!
Suzanna

Not sure of your doubt. In Polish, I've seen only "Theresa". As far as the rest, guess you must have been hearing the diminutive form of the name when you were a child. Children rarely call adults, let alone much older adults, by their given name (in most societies!), unless again, by a diminutive or 'Auntie/Uncle so-and-so' etc.., sort of as a sign of respect.

In Austria, where the name was quite popular for a time as well, (also a nominally Catholic country), the most common diminutive I can recall is "Resi":-)

Whoops, you're right! "Teresa Kubiak", the great Polish opera diva, spelled her name without an 'h', yes! Clean forgot LOL

Cheers:-)
