Hi,
My Polish grandmother frequently says something along the lines of (this is my phonetical interpretation, mind you):

motka nie-fienso

What is the proper spelling of this phrase, and what does it mean? My grandmother has Alzheimer's disease and doesn't remember what it means.

Thanks,
J

My guess is what she says is 'Matko Niebieska' - Mother in Heaven (Holy Mary)

it is a guess though what you've written is quite dubious

Perhaps too, it's dialect pronunciation. Perhaps your grandparents, as with many immigrant families, were from the countryside and spoke a country Polish.

Just my guess though)))

Gumishu - my grandmother often says 'matko niebieska' as well. That's one thing to check off my list :)

Thanks for your help too, Lyzko.
