germany prepares for invasion of Poland

At noon, despite threats of British and French intervention, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler signs an order to attack Poland, and German forces move to the frontier. That evening, Nazi S.S. troops wearing Polish uniforms staged a phony invasion of Germany, damaging several minor installations on the German side of the border. They also left behind a handful of dead German prisoners in Polish uniforms to serve as further evidence of the alleged Polish attack, which Nazi propagandists publicized as an unforgivable act of aggression.

I knew that germany attacked Poland , but I never knew about the above
phony invasion of Germany by germans to start the war!

how could you not? I thought this was on a standard knowledge test that all Poles had to pass.
Hmm then you probably have never heard about the Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Ajax, Lavon Affair, and Operation Northwoods- you got lots of reading to do.

McCoy,

Thanks for including pics of the happy meeting between NKVD and Werhmacht in Brześć on 22 September 1939. Patrycja probably thought the Soviets were allies too. Education continues.

your welcome.

Text of the Nazi-Soviet Pact: historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/pact.htm

excerpt:

[...]Article II. In the event of a territorial and political rearrangement of the areas belonging to the Polish State, the spheres of influence of Germany and the U.S.S.R. shall be bounded approximately by the line of the rivers Narev, Vistula and San.

The question of whether the interests of both parties make desirable the maintenance of an independent Polish State and how such a state should be bounded can only be definitely determined in the course of further political developments.

In any event both Governments will resolve this question by means of a friendly agreement.[...]

Moscow, August 23, 1939.

For the Government of the German Reich

v. Ribbentrop

Plenipotentiary of the Government of the U.S.S.R.

Did the Soviet's maintain an emabassy or consulate in Warsaw during this time?

If you mean during the German invasion, then yes. The Soviet ambassador left Poland on 12 September 1939 in preparation of the Soviet invasion. On 17 September, USSR passed a note(not accepted) stating the ceasing of the Polish state.

russians and germans have always been making fun of Poles getting beaten

German forces were surrendering and crying to Poles during the Warsaw uprising they gtt owned by a force smaller and badly equipted.

In 1920 we sent the russians crying and begging for mercy in the Battle Of Warsaw

Who should be made fun of now?

Erm...AFTER they surrendered and cried to Poles:

Following the surrender of Polish forces on 2 October, German troops systematically burned the city block by block, leveling another 35% of the town.

PolskaMan..who taught you history?

It is rather sad when you look at both Nazi and Russia having to try to take out Poland. Wouldn't that be the same as a man with a gun fighting a man with his hands tied behind his back?

I thought this was on a standard knowledge test that all Poles had to pass.

I thought it was standard knowledge to use proper terms as poles are things we use
to connect wires and usually are placed deep into the ground so a large wind hot wind
coming from your mouth doesnt blow them over. :) LOL

Poles or do you mean POLISH PEOPLE? cause Poles dont take tests, only people do..
lol..

born in America, and sad to say, our learning was limited, I learned about certain
things regarding the war, but it was very brief and yes we are tested, but by
the time you get to the end of the social studies book, youve forgotten have of the
stuff you learned..

Patrycja probably thought the Soviets were allies too. Education continues.

Nope patrycja thinks your a soviet with a stick up your arse. education continues !!
