In america the eagle is used to show freedom, fox is made to be sneaky and you call a sneaky person a fox.
In Russia a cat is like a thief.

and if you don't know what I mean i'll try to explain it better.

You can be strong like a lion (mocny jak lew)
You can be faithful like a dog (wierny jak pies)
You can be stupid like a donkey (glupi jak osiol) hey, no offense. We have a very smart donkey on PF!
You can be sly like a fox (przebiegly jak lis)
You can be smart like an owl (madry jak sowa) ..well, I don't really know why the saying, are owls smart?

That's all I can think of now.
Anybody also has more comparisons or symbols?

It's a good thing you weren't looking for in-depth analysis of heraldic motifs. But if you were, here's a little something of interest to... well, me actually:

Półkozic coat of arms - a Polish coat of arms with a donkey on it.

Eurola:

Thanks. I'm more than just a stupid donkey...

It's not a donkey, it's a goat... ( half goat being more precise ) : p

It is a donkey on the shield. The goat is on the crest. The story of its origin distinctly mentions both animals (RIP).

Yup, you're right, smart knight threw out skins of killed goats and donkeys so that pagans who were laying siege against the fortress would though that defenders have big supplies of food.. he got this nice coat of arms in return ; )
