To be honest you have to look at it from the Russian point of view and not the biased Polish view. Stalin did a lot for Russia (USSR). He did for sure do a lot more bad than he did good, however if your willing to shoot him down for the bad why not recognise the good also??

Would u mind naming a few things out of this "lot" ? Stalin's myth is essentially due to his perceived role in fighting the Nazis. He did what any other ruler would have done in similar circumstances: repel an invader. He didn't do anything particularly heroic or genius. His soldiers and generals on the field did the dirty work. Stalin had murdered at least 30 million people long before Hitler's extermination of Jews and gypsies began. He presided over massive population deportations, wide spread famines, and the complete destruction of means of production and industries. He contributed to turning Russia ( as well as other ex communist countries) into a nation of soulless fatalist and nihilist cynics. They still are until the present day. Oh well.. If you really see a "lot" of good in him, you certainly are particularly discerning. PJ

Well... good question. Overwhelming majority of every country are not very intelligent people. Stalin in his turn mostly destroyed so-called "Intelligencija", who he was afraid of. Plain people supported that. This way he has been able to keep the power and be in favour of most of the people.
