Looks like the constant attempts to insert the national tongue into the anus of the USA are paying off as well as usual!

Five days before the commemoration ceremony of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II in Poland, Washington has yet to announce who is going to represent the US administration.

Polish officials had been led to believe the US would be represented by Vice-President Joe Biden or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. But Prime Minister Donald Tusk seems to have lost all hope that the Obama administration will be sending a high-level official to the ceremony - to be attended by Chancellor Merkel, Prime Minister Putin and other heads of government and state at Gdansk - on September 1.

Talking to reporters after a cabinet session, Tuesday, PM Tusk said: ‘Some countries are not sending high-level delegations. This is true of the United States as well.’

Andrzej Przewoznik, Head of the Council for the Protection of the Memory of Struggle and Martyrdom, who is in charge of the organization of the commemoration ceremony, has said: ‘All foreign delegations have informed us who is to lead their delegations. The United States is the only exception. I am astonished,” he said.

They're too busy running their own wars to worry about other people's.

Don't forget, they weren't there at the beginning either... maybe they'll come in 2 years time.

I think that it not a big deal. Americans are less sentimental about the WW2 for obvious reasons.

You will probably get either Biden or Clinton. Obama should go though in my opinion.

Ya' know, it's 5 days away? Planes are pretty capable of getting there in plenty of time for the event.

I don't think its a provocation as much as a reminder of the constant snubbing by the US.
The visa waiver program, the missile interceptor base, the Patriot missile system that is to be deployed unarmed etc.
Poland should remove 900 or so of their troops from Afghanistan and see if the US will respond to that.

Which "they" are you talking about?
The people or their government, that does not listen to them anyway?
The people did not want to send troops to Iraq but the gov. sent them anyway. And 'they' didn't get sh!t out if it ,did they.
That's democracy in Poland for you.

Lots and lots of Americans didn't want to go to WWII. They didn't really ask "what do we get out of it" though. What do you think Poland deserves for giving us 2500 troops? Please be specific, dollar amount etc. Poland's a member of NATO however if she would like to charge for services let the US know. Easy enough?

There were many polls on PFs and else where exclaiming that the Poles did not want the shield. Usually like 65 - 80% against the shield.

My statement was not about finances, I don't give a damn about what any one things they are entitled to. The Polish government sent troops because they though they were going to get oil and infastructure contracts, as funny as that sounds. Did they get any? Hell no. Why?, because the contracts were already divide between US, British and other firms and their ECA's, banks, etc before the first SF soldiers laser designated the first strike targets.

And what did America get out of WW2? Just western Europe and the spheres of influence left over from the remnants of the Empires of Britain and France. Don't tell me the US went there out of the goodness of their hearts. Wars are not fought for other peoples freedoms; they are fought for those peoples resources.

PF is not a scientific poll. Its was about 72% from Rasmussen if I remember correctly when this all started. But people don't sway the governments decision making. This was a poke in the eye at Russia, a chance for the Polish gov. to feel important while flicking a finger to their former master while hiding behind the "big guy". Either way its not adding inches to their di(ks, is it?

Poland can broker with the Iraqis like anyone else. 40 billion a year in crude has been nationalized. Strike a deal with them. It's not that hard.

Actually when you send your citizens in to die on another's land there is always an element of altruism to it.

However you seem to assert that the US annexed Western Europe. Look, Europe decides to try and commit suicide and the US inherits it's markets.. it's kind of strange to blame the US for this, no? The central lesson here is to keep the EU together in the future because if it splinters you'll only be hurting yourself. Economically and leaving yourself vulnerable to outside forces. However as the European ego is on display here daily, it will be a surprise if it will be kept in check for decades to come.

Sure they can, but the fact remains that the Iraqi government was put in place by the occupational coalition, namely the US. So the most lucrative and best contracts were reserved for the big guys whether anyone bid or not (like Blackwater). The only thing that Poland received was combat experience.

I won't say annexed, but they were definitely in debt and dependent on the US for protection after The War and the early years of the of the Cold War. Lend Lease, Trident, German Reconstruction, Marshall Plan, etc.
It will be interesting to see if the EU can stay fused, who knows.

I don't like to see Poles looking stupid. Every time their master (the USA) shouts, the government and a lot of the people jump. But the USA doesn't give anything in return.

Got to love that one! The USA snubs Poland by refusing to send anybody important to a very important event and you accuse me of 'a provocation'! Perhaps that bit about constant attempts to insert the national tongue into the anus of the USA has left you feeling personally wounded. What happened? Did you have your visa application for the USA accepted recently?

As a lot of rich Poles (or their kids) live here we've given quite a lot over the years. For Iraq / Afghanistan? Poland gave us essentially 3 battalions.. In comparison we sent 23 into the Balkans alone.

How would you like to see Poland compensated for the 3 battalions? Oil deals can probably still be worked out with the Iraqis if that's what you want.

Visa-free travel would be a good start. If Poles are good enough to die for the USA, they're good enough to visit the USA.

And it would also mean that we could more easily get rid of the dregs of Polish society!

Agree.. You're probably talking 2010 - 11, something like that.

Old girlfriend Magda just bought a house in Ft. Lauderdale, it's nicer than mine. She's not a citizen either. Somehow I doubt she would agree with your diatribe.

there is no ?

its a trend on all fields and its just the beggining. First, USA (in alliance with Islamic powers- Saudia Arabia, Iran and Turkey; Israel; Germany, Britain and France) killing traditional and only loyal Polish brothers and friends, kin Serbian nation. Isolation and then segmentation, followed with germanization and islamization and above everything- idiotization and moronization. That`s the plan for Poland

You shall see Poles. Don`t say that i didn`t warn you.... and, beware of that Tusk

Crow, how is Israel an Islamic power? You gotta take both Israel and the US out of the equation because Israel and US aren't Islamic friendly countries.

pardon, please

Israel and USA are in alliance with Islamic powers in opperations on Balkan, when it comes to deal with Slavs. USA even transported mujaheedines and coordinarted with them in attacks on Serbians. Both- USA and Israel support creation of new Islamic countries on Balkan, in Slavic world, on Serbian ground. Mujaheedines are being populated in the region under their supervision. Elites of USA and Israel hates Slavs a lot of

The US has its own problems to contend to.....healthcare reform is being bitterly contested (again...Hillary tried years ago and found what a knotty mess it was to try to get a consensus on how to tackle the issue), we just had a revered Senator pass away (Edward Kennedy), and a messed up economy to put right.

Why does Poland believe it has to be center stage all the time?
Why?

Shopgirl, we're talking about the commemoration of the beginning of WWII. All other countries involved are sending their presidents and prime ministers, so it will be a a VERY important event internationally. The only ones who won't send anybody important are USA and Israel. One might think that those two countries somehow don't think WWII was an important event.
Also, I highly doubt that USA wouldn't held a commemoration for victims of 9/11 only because of some Senator who passed away or problems with economy.
