Question for British Ex-Pats in Krakow

Just curious as to whether there is an established ex-pat community in Krakow, and if so, where do they meet?

I have been living in Krakow for a month now and have been so engrossed in finishing my TEFL course, getting a flat, sorting out bank accounts etc that I havn't really met anyone other than my girlfriends family.

I have joined a gym, but no Brits there either

As I don't speak Polish yet and I'm not working it's hard to meet new friends etc.

Any Ideas?

Im in the same boat. Im from Ireland originally, and living in Krakow but havent really met any British or Irish. I spend nearly all the time with my gfs friends and family etc so dont get to socialise in any of the ex-pat hangouts. I suspect you might find a lot of British and Irish at the Irish bar in krakow, but as an Irish person I would never frequent a plastic Irish pub abroad :D

Irish Mbassy

Although in the Mbassy you are more likely to meet tourists rather than expats so much, and it is very much the plastic paddy bar you said you don't want. I always went into Nic Nowego...always a good spot, and it's more just like a bar in Ireland rather than an irish bar.

Just goes to show how active my Krakow social life is, although come to think of it I do remember their closing down party being advertised somewhere. Oh well who cares, irish pub anywhere outside Ireland are crap :))

That's the Irish Arms, they declined to renew the lease on it. The same owner as the Irish Embassy.

Irish Bar is still going on Jana street, though its not really my kinda place since the ex works there :D

I was in Krakow last week. Whats it like as a place to live and work? Meaning can a brit find work easily and adapt to Polish life?

I think it would be the right time to finally start a regular Krakow expats club, and hook ups, any one finally gonna help me get this off the ground?????

I have a brand new (opening oct) cafe bar venue in podgorze/kazimierz , so no probs, we can have a permanent "home" there as it were..................the owners would be delighted lol.....

cmon guys n gals, I could also provide a website as a focal point, aside from here, to help organise things, meets ups diary etc.....

Anyone interested lets get this rolling,

Yes would be happy to help so long as it's not just a load of blokes having regular P ups. Just started working at School here so all sorts of social would be great.

Let me know who to meet and where and will drop in to discuss.
Peter
