Will Madonna sing in Warsaw on the 15th of August or not?

Madonna’s show in Poland has gone ahead with a low turnout by Catholic protesters. More than 80,000 fans came to see the American pop star’s debut in Warsaw. Some pious Poles were offended that this leg of her “Sweet and Sticky” tour came when they celebrate physical ascension into heaven by the Virgin Mary — prescribed in the papal encyclical of 1950. One of the fans said: “If somebody wants to go to church it’s up to him. I want to go to the concert.” Today is Madonna’s birthday. She is 51. The few Poles that did come to protest on Saturday were mostly older.

There has been a rumour saying that some ultra catholics in Poland are trying to have her concert postponed because it is taking place on the 15th of August ( Assomption holiday). 100 000 people/spectators are expected at this venue. So in my opinion 100 000 people /fans out of a population of 40 millions+ is not huge. If 39 000 000 Poles prefer to go to church, pray,etc why does it bother the ultra catholics if Madonna 's concert makes 100 000 people happy. I mean , isn't it a question of tolerance ? Why don't ultra religious people mind their own business? The concert will not be broadcasted so how can it be considered blasphemy , i was shoked to hear M Walesa asking on Euronews asking Madonna to postpone her concert and not perform on the 15th of August. I think it is about time that tolerant Poles start to open their mouth and not let the extremists rule their cultural or artistic life! Britney Spears 'concert was cancelled last month because officially the contract of her organiser was not compatible with Polish Laws ? really ? So her contract was ok for English, French German laws but not for Polish laws?

Hi L, I would assume at this stage that the concert will not be cancelled. A lot of people will no doubt be travelling, and the stage is practically finished according to a friend of mine in Warsaw. The Madoona concert is just an excuse for the religious right(who did badly in recent elections) to shout about something. Unfortunately, ultra religius people cannot mind their own business and see it perfectly ok to impose their beliefs on others. My view is, if you are religious(not you personally!!), then dont go to the Madonna concert. But dont expect everyone else to be dictated to by your beliefs. And i would doubt anywhere near 39 000 000 poles go to chruch as chruch attendence is apparently reducing. Regards, vincent

Whatever people do, there is always someone who complains. We have to live with that. Many young people in PL are laughing at things like this. In the same way as they were laughing at the Kaczyński brothers. It was really entertaining to discuss that with young people, esp. in Wawa. They were just laughing.

Later in Bulgaria she was also "singing" during some religious holiday. Old dwarf just can't get much attention anymore, so is using primitive provocations. It is dreadful to look at and yes she is a old hag (have some decency that it what I say), On the other hand the Stones could be on stage all night at 75 and everyone would love them, you know what the difference is ? Yes and what a publicity stunt with the two children she adopted. She barely has time for the ones she has naturally, stuffs them all off with a nanny and she thinks she has saved the world, there is not one piece of humanity in her body. She is a "old washed out control freak", and never really been attractive at that, even in her early days. I admit she can dance but she cannot sing.
