These are not Holocaust survivors but unruly, spoiled-rotten teen brats from Israel who let off steam in Poland for a coupla weeks and then return to the straight and narrow in the Promised Land. They are probably doing more to stir up anti-Semitism in Poland than all the skinhead thugs combined.

to my knowledge the candidates to these trips used to be screened, but in recent years literally anyone could apply, in the name of 'everyone has the right to go and learn about the topic'. these students are 17-16 years old, many of them never left the country and see it as a holiday. according to the article you sent the government will now amass some major good will tasks in order for a student to get accepted, so it will screen out the free riders. which is a good thing because these people disgrace the memory of the victims of the holacaust, disrespect poland and disrespect their own country by representing it the way they do. they should stay home and let those who really care come instead of them, which is what is exactly what is about to happen.

Nonsense. Sheep, why do you open your mouth when you've got no idea about the issue ? Many hotels refuse to host these groups because the mess they are doing, in some cases they were even smearing sh*t all over the walls. And Isrealites admit there's a big problem .

To be fair, when a group of teenagers of any nationalities go for a trip without their parents, there is a good chance that they will create a mess. However, the issue with these Israeli kids is that they grow up being told that the world owe them because of WWII, they are the victims forever. Whenever people want to point out any of their wrong doing, they just call it anti-Semitic. In fact, this is just the usual behaviour of Israelis, I bet before the came over to Poland, they were told that Poland belongs to them, thew owned most of the properties here, then expelled from this country, and everything were taken away...victims again!

Experts talk in a more specific way than I did. Anyway, it was good to get a rise out of some people, so easy here. I can believe the stories as they are animals and hard done by chumps. I remember their treatment of Robert Fisk, the English journalist. Not very nice! They treat the Palestinians, with land title deeds, like dirt.

As to the thread title: The term is "Jewish Youth" not "Jew Youth". An important nuance. I can't vouch for every Israeli group but I do know something about this. Three of my Israeli children (none of them "animals") participated in class trips to Poland. The experiences they described bear very little resemblance to what you people are talking about. True they have little contact with locals, just like any organized tour group on a tight schedule. True, they had security accompanying them, Polish security guards. (The girls got along with them very well.) There was some misbehaving on the plane (as any group of high-school children travelling together would do) but nothing violent. They were not told that Poles perpetrated the holocaust, and they did not act wildly in their hotels and they did not insult anyone on the street. What they did was travel to places that were important in Jewish history and of course to the camps. They stood at a place in the forest where jewish children were massacred in pits, and they sang sad songs and prayed. They walked quietly through Majdanek and Auschwitz with tears in their eyes. They spent Shabbat in Lodz trying to imagine what Jewish life was like there before the war. They had all-night discussions with their teachers and with survivors who accompanied them, talking about their confusion and moral dilemmas. These trips help young people come to terms with some very difficult questions and help them understand the sad reality of their recent history. It's a shame if some of them make trouble, and there is room for improvement in the programming, but I think these stories are very exaggerated and certainly not typical. In short, my daughter who came back a few weeks ago, said that it was one of the most moving experiences of her life. I assure you she wasn't talking about trashing hotel rooms.

There are two sides to every coin, Greg. What Yehudi has just told you is, I'd conjecture, more typical than the vile things that other Jewish (not Jew) kids have been accused of. The Polish propensity is to take something wrong, blow it up out of all proportion, and labour it for the rest of their days. There will always be some bad people, Greg, in any country.
