Why do you blame Tusk, Greg? Surely it is private businesses who are being directly affected. What do you propose that Tusk does? I'm not saying he isn't blameless, I'm just curious to know why you apportion the blame on him.

Tusk really impressed me lately. Instead of giving away tons of money (while bleeding taxpayers dry) to poor poor bankers or other shameless corporation blobs he announced more savings and budget cuts. If he only manage to execute this - then we shouldn't be afraid of this crisis so much.

Although Polish government is a disgrace, their reaction to the crisis is quite decent. In comparison with most of western Europe they became champions of liberalism. This is in fact the first moment when I start to consider victory of PO over PiS to be a little positive. Before I was quite neutral about their competition. In the age of widespread populism they deserve one good word. I just hope that I'm not too quick with this... :) I see their reaction to be effect of cooperation between Rostkowski and Tusk. This is a pity that this government wasted so much time. It appears that Tusk tolerate way too much absolutely disgraceful ideas of his ministers. I don't even mean those from PSL, this union of peasants is a separate problem.

Of course PO is much better when it comes to reacions on crisise I hope that PO is not going to listen voices like "They don't react" "We need to act we need to stimulate economy, we need to spend money" Polish debt is much more expenisve due to higher interest rates and this year is going to be hard for those who are looking for money to borrow...

Happymeal: Dell moves to Poland This is very bad news for Ireland. I was talking to a mate from Ireland who works in IT. He said one day last week they let go of 300 people and the very next day an email was sent to all employees welcoming the new 120 Polish (in Poland) people who have joined the team. This was of course a very stupid action. lesser: victory of PO over PiS We can just called them number twos and number ones.

I would be more afraid PiS with their anti-crisis programs. I cannot think about anybody that I would like in PO. Tusk is one of the least disliked and Komorowski one of the most. Personally I always preferred JarKacz over Tusk. However I witness all this PR populism crap already too long and I lost all my sympathy to him. People that 'directly' surround him are much worse.

Just be careful the Libs don’t go too far with their “fixes”, as is presently the case in the U.S. It is my understanding that the employment situation in Poland has improved somewhat in recent years after being a problem for so long. If they can stave off a backslide during this rough economic period they should make out ok.

There is a lot of talking about free trade but in reality EU is very good in defending internal EU market. Especially during crisis I don't see any new successful WTO meetings. I think that in the long view some tax equality among competing countries in EU is inevitable. PS. Important thing is that Dell isn't european company. So we shouldn't worry about Dell, we should rather think what should we do to have in europe more companies like Nokia. I mean companies which are modern and originate in Europe. I think EU should support biotechnology sector. I'm from IT sector but I think future belongs to biotechnology.

But that is fastly what we are becoming, we dont even deal with half of the customer service sector jobs now since what can be out outsourced has been outsourced. jwojcie: They will not all move to asia. Im sure 20 years ago people who worked for BT on their customer services team, wouldn't have imagined losing their jobs to someone in an Indian call centre! Countries with little regard for human rights let alone working conditions will always win, since they can produce a product far cheaper - we are, after all price driven, so it only makes sense that products will be imported from these kind of places, and therein lies the problem! lexi: No Sean its the same opportunities for a cheaper price! Ten years ago we had more in the way of industry, ten years ago immigration was not as much as a problem as it is today, ten years ago we were starting to build the country again after our last recession, ten years ago we didn't seem to have the same level of anti social behaviour problems we have today, in short lexi a lot has happened in ten years and Britain is going down the pan with large industries moving to other countries, meaning less jobs, yet the influx of migrant workers grows, not a good recipe for a good economy and not good for British people.
