Western rationalism vs Polish (slavic) comfort

What do you prefer? Poland seems so much relaxed compared to the West.

What do you think about the millions of Poles who left Poland for the (often germanic) West over the centuries...do you think they are all unhappy there...with their slavic souls in those strange countries that is...

I have been to Kraków and the Poles were a very unhappy lot all standing all day outside the local Pewex shop hoping to buy my dollars. They want to buy foreign chocolate and coffee and need foreign currency. Strange lot the Poles really. They preach Communism yet all want o buy illegally American dollars to spend in the local Pewex! It all goes to show how false Polish Communism was and how it totally runs against the grain of human nature. Now, the Poles through E.U. membership, have access to Western goods, services and jobs. See all the Poles now, trying to buy detached houses in nice leafy suburbs! Communism? Do not look at me, my name is Lech Walesa and I left school when I was thirteen years of age. I can not read or write let alone spell my own surname but by Christ I can reproduce like a little country rabbit and I am off to the airport to collect my next Nobel Peace Prize! Long live Communism, I say!!

Michal, it must really **** you off that a simple guy like that put an end to your ideology, what a shame. Do I sense jealousy there because you achievements are no where near those of a simple man. I'll let you on a little secret, next time be on the winning side so you can have this worm feeling inside of accomplishment and pride too.

Michal, you sound jealous/unhappy that your fellow poles in poland are much more successful than under communism... Michal: false Polish Communism was Communism was corrupt everywhere. It was not a very popular ideology - especially in poland.

Relaxed, in what way? This conflicts with what an advert says, that Poles are more and more stressed with work and other commitments. Some are more relaxed and some are more stressed. Some are just great pretenders.

Not only there are no friends from home, but it's hard to make new ones. I've got them now, but none are British: Lebanese, Macedonian, Bulgarian, South African, Nigerian etc. Then the fact that people fake the smiles if they expect money, but if I want to sell something it's: sorry love, we don't want to trade with you. No, he wouldn't let you TAKE any samples. (That was today) So, to answer, I would prefer Polish comfort, but can't afford the Polish prices. I will concentrate on making money in the Wild West. It must prove worth it. The fact that I can't go home on the shield, empty-handed is not helping. There is a lot of pressure. Ksysia: Move into Czech ten. They are allowed two pints per work day. That's why CR is so far ahead of its neighbours. In general I prefer the loose slavic style where people talk about their lives,personal things while working and have a laugh instead of the stiff,''professional'' western style.
