Australian met a Polish girl

Hi guys, i met my polish girlfriend in the U.S.A in the summer of 2007, i went back to Australia for about 4 months at christmas and then came to london on a 2 year working holiday visa in march 2008, the working holiday visa will be expired in march 2010, i am just wondering if anyone knows whether i can obtain a spouse visa or something through her so i can stay in the U.K for a little bit longer... Any input would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Honest Answer: Go to some consultant. Its a complicated issue I think, and any advice here would not help as much as any professional can help you.

You will have to go back to Aus to apply for a spousal visa, WHV are simply for that, you can only work 12 months out of the 2 years and there also might be problems because you gf is Polish and not a British citizen or a perm resident in the UK, she will also have to provide financial details that she can actually support you, since you will be her dependent.. Be careful what kind of information you are submitting, they're really strict on the rules of WHV these days. Over staying isnt a good idea since they'll just deport you if you are found not to have the correct docs and NO company will employ you without the right documents since they are liable for a £10,000 fine these days. Sorry I couldnt be more positive, but thats the way it is here these days. You might be better applying for a working visa, but its points based now so more difficult than before, again you will have to do this outside of the country.

she is polish and you want to get a spouse visa to stay longer in the UK? If she isnt british than I cant imagine that it would be possible but I could be wrong

aussie55: well because poland is eu i thought something could be done.... That's the mistake most people make, they merely have the right to work, thats it. Plus the fact there have been a lot of sham marriages to non EU members has made us tighten the rules. Lodz_The_Boat: he hehe :P And what?

Check that with home office website. She should be able to sponsor your visa somehow. you can try to bring your girlfriend to Australia. All the best mate.

right so my point is as has been stated earlier work visas are country specific and not valid for the entire EU from my understanding. she can help you get a visa in poland through marriage but not in another country but the best thing is to check with the proper officials before overstaying your visa and having a big problem good luck

No worries, but remember you wont be able to work on a tourist visa, they will also ask for financial details (they're getting really strict as I have stated) - there's a good chance you'll be turned back at the airport if you dont have sufficient funds for your visit. Gone are the days of coming here and working without the right to work.... As for London I couldnt agree more, 5hit hole it is! HI, hold on you said she is your girldfriend then you have no chance for any kind of visa or help from her. You can only get help from her or get visa stuff if you are married to her buddy.... good luck
