Mooving to Canberra

Hi !!!!!
We are aplying for Permament Residence in Canbera. If everything goes well we will be able to emigrate at the end of this year or early 2010 from South Africa.
It would be great to make some new friends.
We have family in Perth and friends in Adelaide but nobody in Canbera and I am desperate
to obtain more information before arrival.
I am looking for schools and inexpensive area to start with.
My older son is looking at TAFE and yonger one is in primary school and I found it dificult
to find best solution on the net.
Can you please give me your opinions?
I would be very greatfull.
