Renewing Polish Passport in Australia- Is it possible to do it by mail?

My wife's Polish passport is due to run out in November and we would like to go on holidays shortly and she was told the only way to renew it is in person in Canberra. Is this right? We are currently in outback WA and won't be on the East Coast before we plan to head overseas next. I was hoping you could apply by post, maybe get a Policeman or JP to view her current passport and confirm it is her.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

if the PL embassy or consulate says that it cannot be done by mail, then it cannot be done by mail...

You can do it via mail, although i dont know how. My dad did it for the family a few years back. I would give them another call, let us know how you go

you can't do it. they need your finger prints and you need to lodge the application in person. this is a law and you can't go around with it. and also your wife need to have PESEL number. you can apply in canbera or sydney

Dam: you can't do it. they need your finger prints If its a renewal theyd have finger prints on file.

I also want to travel on my Polish passport that has expired this year I think..i seem to have lost it. My mum tells me it takes up to a year! for gods sake! I want to travel by april next year..it seems ridiculous!

easy way is to go to poland on australian passport and in poland ask for id card and polish passport( if you stay there long term )and this will allow you to travel all over th europe . id card only would be ok to do the traveling as well.
