IS THERE ANYONE WITH CONTACTS IN LWOW UKRAINE...a place to stay needed..

Is there anyone on the forum that can help me with finding somewhere to stay in the Lwow area of Ukraine for myself and a lady from Russia who want to meet there..? preferably somewhere cheapish , warm and cosy... thanks..

Shevchenko Hostel comes highly recommended from me - you'd appreciate it and the ambience :) (they also sell beer for 1.20zl for a half litre!)

What, how can beer be so cheap? Shevchenko suggests exclusive. Andrei is a legend, how can you cheapen him in such a way? ;) ;)

Seanus: Andrei is a legend, how can you cheapen him in such a way? ;) ;) Haha ;) It's near the Shevchenko Monument, too... ;) Bizzarely, there's a statue of Mickiewicz too nearby - I still can't work out how the Ukranians can claim him as theirs... (yes, I know it probably predates WW2 :P)

wildrover: can you tell me if they have on suite bathrooms..my friend was asking...? Yep. They're not really the most amazing, luxurious bathrooms ever (mostly wetrooms, really!) - but if you just want a private room with a bathroom, it'll do the job nicely. One thing - if you do book there, make sure to ask for a room with a window :)

Yeah , i heard there were some rooms without windows... I think my sharer of this place is going to want a proper bathroom , and a comfy bed , and as its going to be a bit of a special meeting for us i suppose it ought to be a bit on the romantic side , not that we are going to do anything other than discuss world events of course... Do you know what these rented appartments are like..any good...?

wildrover: Do you know what these rented appartments are like..any good...? From what I've heard, yes - but I haven't seen them personally, so don't take it as gospel. Apparently you can get really good deals on some of the good hotels there too - I heard a figure of 30EUR/night from a girl in Lwow, so that might be worth investigating. (incidentally, I found this - http://www.karpaty.info/en/uk/lv/ms/shehyni/hotels/svitlytsya/ - that might be of interest on the journey there if you can't face the drive to Lwow after the hell that is the border!)

delphiandomine: the hell that is the border Don,t remind me...i arrived there soaking wet after a long hard ride on the Harley , had a real problem , due to the silly little bits of paper they gave me at the various posts falling to bits..it was psssng down , and i had only a jacket pocket to put them in...When i had to show the last control point all my three bits of paper , one had fallen completly to bits , one had gone missing...They would not let go on into Ukraine , and i was not allowed to ride my bike back to the first post , had to leave it , and walk back... There was some reluctance to give me the second bit of paper i needed as the first one had already been stamped...I went back and forth over the border , getting more angry by the second . i was ready to punch somebody , despite the fact they had guns...It wasn,t helped by the fact that the border guards found it all very funny... Evetually i did manage to get all three bits of paper , and rode into Ukraine.... the return trip was a total contrast...some lovely woman in a uniform was obviously a Harley fan , i was waved to the front of the que , she ran around getting everything stamped for me , and then jumped on the back of my bike for a ride over to the Polish control point...i was through in less than 30 seconds... Sadly , my paper losing skills remained with me , i lost her dam phone number...!

delphiandomine: Bizzarely, there's a statue of Mickiewicz too nearby - I still can't work out how the Ukranians can claim him as theirs... The first time in my life I hear that the Ukrainians are claiming a great Lithuanian poet as theirs :)
