I miss ruling the world. That was great - really enjoyed it. Great days!

will never admit you as their equals, it's beyond their comprehension.

I don't understand you there. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

there's a hell of a lot of jokes about Jews too

- Yes, there probably are, but they are not even one thousandth as horrible and dehumanising as those about Poles. Larry Wilde also published a collection of 'Jewish jokes' whose main message is: 'The Jews are very smart.'

If you study history in the US, you're bound to come across a Mr. Nicolaus Copernicus, who was Polish, no? This kind of refuted dumb Polish jokes for me

- What do you mean in the above quote?

I don't hate the British but they once ruled the world.. and they miss that dearly

- If the British ruled the world, it would be much better than it is now. And who is ruling the world today, and how the world looks like because of that?

[quote=Wahldo]They [the British - P.] will never admit you as their equals, it's beyond their comprehension.

- I've never-ever noticed that while staying in UK. Not even once. What you're saying above seems like a negative American stereotype of the British. Quite simply, the British, particularly the English are (apart from the Irish) the least prejudiced people I've ever met. And I must admit that Americans and Canadians seem to me the most prejudiced people I've ever met. It is interesting, this putting down the British by some Americans. I suspect that it's motivated by the desire to lift those Americans' self-esteem, isn't it?

You're just looking to pick a fight. Sorry I'm not going to give it to ya'. I didn't start this "Anti-Polish" thread. In my dealings with the British they were prejudiced with Americans not the other way around. I even have an English friend who's confirmed that. Frankly, I don't lose a lot of sleep over it and some British are the nicest around; I wouldn't live there when they obvioiusly dont want you there.

Sorry you're so sensitive man, must be tough.

P.S. - US doesn't rule the world, not really. Euros worth more than the $. Soon the Saudis and the Chinese will have more sway if they don't already. Yeah we invaded Iraq, it was wrong, very much so.. kind of like another country that invaded Czechslovakia back in the 60's , right? Or was that a good war? What did the Czechs do to the Polish?

What did the Czechs do to the Polish?

We thought they poked fun at us with their funny accent and all.

What does their accent sound like?

sounds like a mix of old/children's Polish and just plain hilarious, kinda like English spoken with French accent.

That is pretty funny. Germans always say we sounds like ducks quacking.

In General Poles consider German to be harsh and machine gun like, but I actually like the sound of the language and it sounds pretty soft to me.

As someone mentioned before, English sounds like someone talking with a hot potato in his mouth.

harsh and machine gun like

There's a fitting analogy.

I like to hear Slavics speak English, sounds nice.. a cool rhythm to it.

Every time I step on a pavement or cross a road here in UK I remember that my Irish ancestors built it ... every time I hear a 'Dumb Polak' joke I introduce the 'joker' to the late Kazimiersz Dabrowski's Theory on Positive Disintegration, Giftedness, Sensitivity and Advanced Development ... I recommend they read it and then come back to discuss it with me ... when they've grown up!

It's a shame that one doesn't always work.

They wont be able to get jobs if polish graduates come here and take jobs.

Well, the UK grads are already in the country and they speak English... what's to stop them going to get the jobs first?

The problem is that a lot of UK degrees are not really training for a job, they're a preliminary to get your foot in the door (of a call-centre job).
