I had to stop reading when I came upon the phrase "Dental Individuality". We should give the writer some sort of award for crafting such a life-changing new expression!

Me: Hey, dude, Um, your breath is really bad and your teeth are green. Maybe you could try brushing them once or twice a day. Hows about it?

Politically correct guy: Hey you! STOP oppressing him you racist, sexist, homophobic, bible thumper! He is just expressing his dental individuallity!

(sigh)

Seriously though, some people just don't have the money, some people have weak teeth and some other people may have some kind of an oral, or dental disease.

So it's not always a case of good or bad hygiene, and in such cases, there's only so much they can do about it.

But hey, you can always laugh at other people untill it happens to you?

:)

Absolute truth. I have spent a lot of money on dental care. I had poor dental hygiene as a child and paid for it later. I fought a low grade infection for almost a year before my dentist found an abcess that my regular doctor ignored.(she thought it was a chronic sinus infection) I learned another valuable lesson about medicine with this incident.
Do you know what you call the person who graduates medical school at the bottom of the class? DOCTOR.

I think the importance of dental hygiene is far more than just a vanity or appearance issue.
There are very real consequences for bad oral health.

If you have bad teeth through no fault of your own I sympathyze.

Even though we poke some fun at people with bad teeth, I want to stress the importance of having good oral health habits. My wife works in oncology and has seen some of the worst suffering and even death result from people who ignored oral hygiene recommendations while undergoing chemotherapy.

also good not to exceed in oral Hygiene, like so many americans and dutchs with fake-white smile, that you can see from miles that they have been bleeched...looks sooooo freaking ugly.

Oh I dont know, you cant beat a nice white pair of gnashers, having said that a friend of mine got dental work done in Hungry and the dentist said, I wont give you the "american" smile, its horrid :D Her teeth just look natural and the price was amazing, including flights, accommodation and full set of upper veneers it was 2.5K guaranteed for 5 years!

Personally I use my electric tooth brush twice a day and give them the 10 minute going over once a week with the electric tooth brush...deep clean time!! I also have an electric flosser...Manky teeth distrub me!!!

I will agree for the most part. Bleaching your teeth is like fake tits. You're not fooling anyone. My primary concern is health not appearance.

I don't have a fake-white smile. Glad to say, my teeth are so clean & shiny. You can see your own reflection in them.

Ex-boyfriend is a dentist. Therefore, I have a lifetime supply of terrific teeth cleaning products.

Honk if you love PF :)

There ya go... but some flouride will also hit the lips later that night. Time Means doesn't like this stereotype, but look how the British pile on the negative b.s. about us every chance they get.

Scrappy, Brits are just as chunky as their American counterparts these days so we can't say much. Bad teeth? Hmm...dunno, not as bad as some Japanese teeth.

I am fascinated with the European obsession about other peoples weights.

You don"t suppose that Europeans are mal-nourished but nobody will tell them do you?

Hardly an obsession in my case, just an observation. British teeth, who on earth picked up on this? Some have good teeth and some don't.

I have heard the stereotype before as well, but there are a number of Brits I have come across over here, not so bad in the dental department.

I know a Polish dental hygenist. Nice girl, but a little brooding at times.

Only between August an June. The rest of the year is ok, you can get around with your parka unbuttoned.

What, was she Polish, a dental hygenist or brooding. Maybe a combination of two of the three?

She never smiled, so I presume you never got a gander at her teeth? Or were they the whitest teeth you ever came across?

Oh, my teeth are perfectly healthy, just not as shiny white as I would like them! (It doesn't matter how much I brush though!) This has to do with your natural colour. (Which differs from person to person.) I happen to have a less brighter colour. White enough, but not really bright.

That's serious. So what causes such results?

She had very white teeth indeed. She used specialist toothpaste. That dentist's chair can be used for more than dentistry, I imagine ;0 ;)

A foreign monarchy cheapens your beautiful country

It is purely historical and ceremonial. The boys who fought and died on Vimy Ridge gave Canada a place among nations, not just being another nice little colony. Several constitutional changes over the years have made us pretty much a de facto, independent nation, free to make our own way in the world. Except when America says jump. Then we are their lap dogs. :-)

scrappleton:
The Canadian constantly refers to us as stupid and yet we don't have a foreigner who basically won some hereditary lottery on our court house walls.

Like I said, a ceremonial function. Would it have been better if the French had won at the Plains of Abraham? Maybe we would be kissing Sarkozy's ass whenever he came over. As for the stupid part, feel free to kick a newfie, we do, and it is fun.

scrappleton:
Canada is nothing but a cheap outpost to the arrogant Brit. Why would you celebrate them like you do?

Much like it is a cheap resource pit for American consumption? We celebrate it just like you celebrate Washington crossing the Delaware. It is history.
