British are notorious for being prejudice.

Ha! And this coming from a Pole!!!!

No my friend, it is your country that is governed by racist bigots and that has a reputation for prejudice and mindless racism.

I know of someone who tried to live and study in Poland. He found being repeatedly spat at because of the colour of his skin intolerable and had to leave. Such behaviour is punishable by a prison sentence in the UK, in Poland, it is endorsed by your government and public opinion.

London is one of the most densely populated and multicultural cities in the world, we are far from intolerant.... There aren't many countries that would stand for such a mass influx (almost a million) of eastern European migrants with such little complaint. I'm sure that if Poland was being flooded with migrants the "natives" would be far less tolerant than the English have been to you all.

I live in North West London where there are many Poles. Since the expansion of the EU I have found the streets littered with young men drinking high strength lager, begging and racially abusing passers by who happen to not be white. What is ironic is that these people fail to understand that if their hosts (the English) were as intolerant as they are, the bad press would be the least of your worries.

Just because we voice concern at the vast numbers that have arrived does not make us intolerant, prejudiced or racist.

We have a right to protect our country, values and borders from the overwhelming flood of Polish and eastern Europeans that have poured into our country.

Cornelius relax, I like the British, even if they are little snobbish.

I think the British are mad that their country is becoming the next USA. Theres so many immigrants there now. I read super express and found out that most Poles that move to England to find a job end up on the street. Its sad but true and I think their just mad that England is not what used to be.
Im not racist but if Poland will have a lot of muslims, or other nation people moveing there it wont be the same Poland.

Excellent point. That's the whole idea.!!!
IT WON"T BE THE SAME POLAND!!!

I really wouldn't want to see Yellow, Black or Green people walking down the streets of Poland as Polish citizens. It won't be Poland anymore! Poland has to protect itself from foreigners that will take over the country. Even though they could use some insights, but it won't be Poland anymore.
It's like breeding dogs. You have cocker spaniels mixed with poodles and you get cocka-poos.

exactly.

I don'tt know if you read Daily mail last Thursday saying"Peterboroug taken over by Poles"- I like England and I understand that it was kind of warning that there are more Polish here than they estimated so it is warning for them about Bulgaria and Romania.
But it article was just not true- you can't believe journalists- they say that 2.5 years ago( before big emigrations from east europe) Millfield area of peterborough was such a pleasant place everyone was saying everyone Hello on the street. My husband has been living for 15 years in peterborough and this area was always rough.

Charity to offer destitute Poles chance to go home

So many Poles are living in squalor and poverty on the streets of Britain that a Polish charity is sending staff to London to persuade them to return home.

The Barka Foundation, a non-governmental organisation based in Poznan, western Poland, was alerted by British charities. They fear that many of the Poles are turning to drugs, prostitution and crime.

Poverty in Australia, although considered to be a prosperous country, is as serious an issue as global poverty. Poverty in Australia is associated with high levels of long-term unemployment, the significant increase in the difference in economic well being between Australians. Australian Indigenous peoples continue to be the single most disadvantaged group in the Country, with many living in conditions similar to those in the poorer Countries. Evidence of social distress is found in the increasing numbers of Australians seeking assistance from charitable organisations in times of financial crisis. The Salvation Army in Australia assists 1.08 million people per year and spends $318 million delivering its social services through out Australia. Poverty is the major cause of homelessness. An increasing drug culture, gambling addictions and family breakdown are also contributing to the high levels of poverty.

Please, tell me, what has Polish government done to deserve reputation of being racist?

I want to hear some facts from you Cornelius, and not any made up fairy tales.

And where did you hear it? A friend of a friend that knows a guy, whose distant relatives step daughters cousin read about it in a tabloid told you? Be more precise Cornelius. there's no room for gossips on this forum.
And to make it even, my close friend was once beaten up by a group of black women, just because she was white. You won't believe where it happened. In the UK.

You sure it's Australia they're talking about? The discription fits another country I know..........
No, not Poland.

Lef - re: your link - maybe they forget the other people that sleep on the streets and minging english prostitutes down Kings Cross - I'm actually really starting to feel sorry for Polish people, they're just every-day people that are coming here to work and travel a bit and then go home....I dont mean to sound patronising either.
blur13   Aug 30, 06, 10:06 /  #
Personally, the Polish men and women I have met (through my Polish partner) have all been very nice, well behaved and likeable.

I think a lot of English feel threatened in that our government predicted recently an influx of about 13,000 Poles to our country when in reality it was closer to a million. So you will get some saying "taking away our jobs, etc, etc" but from what I have seen, the Polish worker (particularly any kind of construction/ engineering work) seems to work harder and longer than your typical English worker (No tea breaks every 30 minutes, strictly 9-5 and not a second more and so forth).

From what little knowledge and experience of Polish peeps I have gleaned of late, I would say they are good-hearted people who like a drink and think friends and family are very important to them.

And there's nowt wrong with that.

go back a few years and it was like that in the UK - I'm actually glad I was born when I was and have the values I have

hi
i have to agree with my friend sarah about polish ppl working really hard if only half the ppl in england would work as hard as they do maybe them there would not be so many ppl on beneifts.
i would love to see more polish ppl in london and i would love to learn polish along with my friend sarah. we are both learning slowly and we do suprise our polish men with some words we say and they love it, they think it is great that we take time out to learn polish.
so all british ppl are not so rude all tho we do have a few ppl who are just selfish and mean and my only advice to polish ppl is to ignore these type of ppl as in our opinion you have the right to come over to britian and earn money

blur13   Aug 31, 06, 08:47 /  #
Absolutely, you can't go around tarring everybody with the same brush by using sweeping generalisations. There are always going to be the odd few mouldy bits of bread in the sliced loaf. And there's a dubious English analogy for you.

Do you mind me asking when you were born, Shelley? I was born in the early 70s and I feel old sometimes when I see what the youths of today get up to, how they behave, talk, etc.
Shelley   Aug 31, 06, 09:26 /  #
01/02/70 - and i dont feel old - I dont look it and I certainly have times when I dont act it - I just think it's a shame how young girls let themselves get - and how they talk - dont get wrong the air can be blue if i lose my temper - but I wouldnt use that kind of lang in front of my parents or other older people.
