How do I get a replacement copy of my Polish Citizenship in London?

Hey there,

Just wondering if somebody can give me some advice. I was told by the Polish Consulate in Sydney that I was successful in obtaining my Polish Citizenship, however, they sent it to the wrong address (an old address of mine and they had been advised not to send it there!).

I now live in London, and the chances of getting this letter from my old address is slim, so I was wondering if anybody knows what the process if for obtaining a copy of the certificate? I have tried calling the Polish Consulate in London numerous times and their lines just ring out. I tried visiting a few days ago, and the line was so long outside the consulate that I would of not had my question answered that day as the consulate was closing in an hours time.

Do I just need to go to the Consulate (much earlier than when I arrived!) with ID (eg Australian passport) and pay a fee? Or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks x

Some girls here in Ireland had their passports stolen.
We called the embassy in Dublin and made an appointment to visit.
Trip up to dublin, straight to the embassy, replacement passports.
They were in and out in 30 mins.

It was hustle and bustle there too - So I don't know, keep trying to call before wasting time queing?

I seem to remember that if you just need information you can jump to the head of the queue at the London consulate - just ask the large gentleman guarding the front door. There's no point ringing as they never answer. Alternatively, call the office in Warsaw that deals with this - they would have issued you with the original document and they should be able to issue you with a duplicate:

It's beyond belief that something so important can end up going to an old address. Do you know if it was sent recorded delivery and would someone have signed for it ?

Make sure you claim compensation for the time and effort spent getting it replaced.

Are you moving to Poland then ?
