Well maybe you are right about Polish passport, but as far as i know i can stay in Livepool and continue working as i will be married to a eu citizen and hellooo the goverment should give me the rights to be able to stay next to my wife. Getting the polish passport, i think after the second year of the marriage i can apply. I called everywhere after i posted that one....Looks like i ned to get a cerificate to be able to get married then after marriage will apply to home office to change my status in the uk this way i will be able to work in any job i want . I dont have to stick with my current job and also part time jobs will be available as well. You know the credit crunch is ruining everything and to continue my life at the same standarts i need to work more and more.. Offf!!!

Hello there...

I'm a south african national currently on a visit visa in the Uk. I've come to visit my girlfriend after our last meeting in South Africa 8 months ago. We now plan in getting married and to live here in london. She has Uk residency, is it possible for me to get a visa in order for me to work and live here without needing to go back in my country and applying for a visa. Could anyone please kindly advise me as i cannot find proper information , maybe i'm not checking in the appropriate web sites.

I'd really appreciate all replies.

Heres mine... you havent seen her for 8 months and you wanna get married? How long have you been together? I hope you are really marrying her for love and not for a visa.

She isnt a UK citizen so why would you be eligible to work here even if you get married to her? I think if you read this thread it will answer your question.

You will have your permission to marry refused since you are on a "visit" visa, you need a marriage visa which you will need to apply for in SA, since she is Polish and only a resident and not a citizen in the UK you may be refused a marriage visa too.

I wouldn't recommend trying to overstay since getting a job will be difficult, none EU nationals have to have ID cards now and employers wont take the chance since they get a £10,000 fine for employing an illegal.

Best to take her back to SA.

You could try ILR or for British citizenship, why not everyone else is! I dont quite understand why you are looking on a Polish forum when you want to stay in the UK? There are plenty of websites that offer information. What nationality are you?

Are there any illegals in Pakistan?

If he is in the UK I suggest he goes into his nearest police station and explain how he wants to get married. He should impress upon the desk sergeant that he is here illegally and how he knows that marriage will legitimise his status.

The police will be more than helpful, they will even arrange a lawyer for him. :)
