What about if I want to marry a polish guy in Poland? I'm from the US. What papers do we need and how long does he have to wait to obtain a visa?

I think that you will have to contact USA Embassy or their home office?

I guess you have american citizenship?

I was in similar situation when married my husband- 4 years ago I needed visa to work in England.
We got married in Poland I had my marriage certificate translated in English and had appointment with British consul.
My first visa was for a year ,second was indefinite.I don;t know about American Embassy but I remember that I had to wait for a while for my appointment.

Eh.. i have found this forum while searching on google about an university in Poland, so i wanted to comment, since it's also related to my case in a way.
I'm engaged with a Polish girl, and we will get married in a year or so. I'm a Turkish by the way.
(About the comments on Polish girl: yes, they are great. Especially, mine)
I don't know how long it takes to get a Polish citizenship after marriage to Polish, but
it is much more easier to get a visa if u have a Polish citizen around, or expecting you to come.
I have been to Poland three times already, and at the moment i have visa to Poland until the end of February (eh.. it's my bad, cause i went to Polish Embassy in Turkey with my Polish fiancee, and they gave me visa until the expiry date of my passport, so if i had longer passport, i could have longer visa - staying not more than 90 days in total though)
So, for the ones who are having problems to reach/live with their loves abroad, take it easy, it is not so hard to get a visa.
And especially after getting married, u can have your "Kochanie" with you..

Cheers..

Yes, as long as you were living in Poland for those three years and your wife was Polish.

Krysia ( genius lady in this forum) why polish girls nowdays getting married to indian, pakistani guys?

One of my friend, who work in polish embassy, london said to me that on average 60% non polish travelling to poland nowdays are citizen of south asian ( Indian, pakistani & bengali) and the reason for travelling: marriage or invitation to visit by (girl) parent.

1.They feel there is no future for them in Poland and they have a chance to travel
2. Money. Usually these pakistani guys are rich. They won't need to work
3. Grass is greener on the other side
4. They like the "exotic" look
5. They had an argument with their parents and do it in spite.
6. They are tired of eating pierogi all the time. They want some curri.
7. They prefer guys with darker skin and hair
8. They get paid money to marry so they get citizenship
9. They're the ugly ones who nobody else wants
10. They got drugged up

Regarding UK residency [for Polish nationals].

I helped my girlfriend through this process because it turns out that in theory the Polish government can tax you on your income from the UK; putting it simply you can get taxed twice.

The rules were that you had to have applied for your ‘work permit’ and after 1 year [when the permit is no longer required as long as you have legally worked in the UK during that time] you can apply for UK residence an so avoid the threat of being taxed on the income by the Polish government when you return there.

You retain Polish citizenship.

[I wish I’d kept all my notes on this as it was a right mess around dealing with the Polish and UK authorities to get everything clarified]

ETA: In clarification, you should pay tax based on your country of [EU] residence, if by working in the UK whilst being legally [if not actually] resident in Poland there was a potential for an income tax benefit [you were paying less tax than you would have on the same income if you were in Poland], so the Polish government could ask for the difference.

By claiming UK residence this is avoided, as you pay tax based on your country of residence not your [EU] nationality.

Yep, but this law is no longer valid.

Thanks for the correction Maty, could you link or explain how/when it changed? I like to avoid disseminating disinformation you understand

unfortunately it is.this law will change in 2007 but you still have to pay the difference in taxes for years:2004/2005,2005/2006,2006/2007(in my situation it would be 2000pounds for each year!!!).uk residency helps but only form the date u get it.

i don't know sapphire, but from what my wife has told me, if she was to divorce me or i here, she would have to let the polish government know about it, and i would have to let the Australian government know.

I find this really strange aswell because in England nobody likes pakistani guys and there is a reason, because 90% of them are perverts and muslims.

The only time you ever see a pakistani with a white girl in England is when the girl is Polish. It's giving Polish girls a very bad name in England. All I hear pakistanis say is stuff like "polish girls are sluts, polish girls are easy"

I feel sorry for those Polish girls because they don't know what they are letting themselfs into.

Elulka, I wouldn't go to India to stay there permanently (unless you have already been there and like it). I think India is a nice country to live though - but you need to know about living there before you decide to move out to a new country.

Hi.

I have been with my Polish girl friend for almost two years and want to get married with her. Just wonder if someone can give me some information how the 'Polish' regulations and laws are and is it possible we marry here in the UK.
If you know the web address of Polish Immigraton Authority please send it to me.

Please feel free to answer to: alex_f01@yahoo.com

Thanks

I would be very wary about going to India if your polish. I think it's very irresponsible of your indian boyfriend to invite you to India. There is a pure hatred for white people here as they don't follow the sikh religion. You will be victimised by everybody.

I'm just giving you a friendly warning but I would avoid India and Pakistan. You should invite your boyfriend over to Poland or go to the UK

Now here's another question regarding marrying a Polish woman.
Im a Canadian citizen working in the US at the time when I met a beautiful Polish girl in the US who I become in love with.
Problem is, I am back in Canada and she is still in the US.
She overstayed her Visa and this could potentially be a problem if I apply her to come to Canada? Or is it?
I NEED HELP! What is my best options to get her to come to Canada?
Should I go back to the US and get married there and take her back with me to Canada? That would be awesome!
I will do anything for my Princess! If someone out there who have knowlege about this subject, I would love you forever!
