Inverness Polish Association meeting

Hope that all's going well for you and that you're getting a decent amount of interest. Changed days from the days of the 'Polish Clubs' (that I went to as a boy here) - but hopefully the most recent wave of migrants will become more involved in associations in time.

Welcome, I would like to invite all Poles and Scots to become Inverness Polish Association members. Next meeting will be on Sunday, 20 Jan 2008 just after the mess in St. Mary's Church - at 1:30 pm. Hope to see you there.

Good to see such a communal meeting. How do u like Inverness aldix? I was up there 3 months ago visiting my grandparents who live near the parks. After the mess (bałagan)? After the mass u mean!!

A long shot in the dark but do you know anyone in inverness who flew to Szczecin in january (18th from Edinburgh to be exact) but got diverted to WARSAW. I flew to Poland for the first time on a great airline called centralwings and met some lovely polish people because of this mishap! I got a bit drunk on the train back to Szczecin and lost a contact number! thanks

I find people from Inverness very tolerant and accommodating. There's a noticeable change of attitude when I'm there. Aberdeen is hostile in many parts.

I'd agree with that, Rafal. I find Scots very similar to Poles in ways.

It's taken a few years in Edinburgh for the older generation of Poles to finally accept the new generation here. It's getting there though and I think as people settle down and make this their home they will begin to become more involved in the clubs and associations. Rafal_1981: I never been to Scotland but I hope to one day. I have that feeling (supported by opinions) that Scots and Poles have a lot in common. There does seem to be a big connection between Scots and Poles that goes back into history. There are connections between Poland and the rest of the UK but it seems Poles and Scots go "way back". :)
