Most folks in the West? You are a hired rep for the West, are you son? I think Poles have a healthy enough reputation in the West, lower in parts of Britain due to mass immigration, but they are seen as hard-working and gritty.

lol good enough reputation lol get your head out of your ar se lad poles are looked on as a source of manual labor for fixing the roads in England and many of them have been caught red handed stealing supplies whenever hired over here in chicago they are second to mexican labor looked upon favorably ? i guess far from it and i dont blame the americans i blame the poles because when they come here they act like its poland and fail to realize its a whole different ball game...

Nope, not much. Only wondering if it's a good idea if ppl who come to live here should adhere to the (moral and ethical) standards we have. We have fought for that for decades, even centuries and now it's been told it's all wrong and we have to look East for how it's done. Sorry, but that is outright annoying. And besides, a country of which the vast majority it seems don't accept homosexuals as ppl with equal rights and is kinda racist in their view towards ppl with a different skin or are any other way different, doesn't have to tell me how I have to live and how things should be. We've been trough that and we have seen in the past to what intolerance can lead.

Sometimes when I read ungrateful posts I'm very much tempted but the fact is that the EU should in the end include ALL european countries.

I believe it will be problematic till all are brought up to the same level of development and prosperity, then the differences will fade slowly but surely and a european consciousness will develop with the next generations automatically.

"Growing pains" so to speak....

Good question. I would like to add that since intolerant ppl always have their mouth full of freedom of speech and democracy and all; how long should tolerant ppl tolerate intolerant ppl? Unfortunately this question is for some dark reason pretty current :( We've been there and I don't think we should go back there.

Bratwurst: let's hope so. But as I asked in one previous post: hasn't Poland joined the EU too early? (not only Poland, a couple of other countries too)

I'm an Ossi, you know?
There are Germans who think the GDR got incorporated into West Germany to quick and many errors were made.

But I think it was a unique situation with no experiences to rely on. Maybe things could had been made better but most probably not.

So...would waiting had made the situation better for the eastern countries? Maybe....but most probably not...I think....but who knows...hmmmm

I never said that 'White is beautiful' is hateful. What I have repeatedly said is that all colors are beautiful. To say or to degrade or be insulting to a particular color/people is the most hideous thing ever. Its sickening....really how do you guyz do it :S.

but the BeNeLux was the first union in Europe (perhaps the whole world) that allowed freedom of movement of labour and goods between the member-states and as such functions as template for the EU.

Erm....I would see the Hanseatic league as a kind of a forerunner of the EU.
It was a trade union with privileges for members...their own laws and even common military to help each other! :)
