It would seem that knife crime is actually falling.
At least in the North East which has a large Polish community!
Although Northumbria Police argues that knife crime is in fact falling on our streets.
However, Acting Deputy Chief Constable Sue Sim at Northumbria Police said knife crime on Tyneside is not as bad as in other areas of the country and said knife crime is falling.
"Northumbria does not experience the same problems with knife crime and gang-related culture as other parts of the UK,"
"We recently did some additional research around the issue of knife crime which shows that between April and June this year there were 139 serious knife crimes recorded, compared to 170 for the same period last year. This means that serious knife crime is, in fact, reducing and our campaign will seek to reduce it even further."
Despite the shocking knife crime figures, which include results from the British Crime Survey and crimes recorded by the police for the 12 months up to March 2008, show that crime is in fact falling, in the North East.
