Ireland32 Then why the poor perfomance in the 2007 General elections? Why the poor performance in the locals two weeks ago? Why did they lose their MEP seat? Why are they polling at 7% while all the other parties are eating into Fianna Fails percentage. Why is the party in decline. I will tell you why as their core voters, the working class, have been sold out by Sinn Fein by their support of 3rd world and eastern european immigration. I will tell that to my local sinn fein councillor who was elected to the local council as a first time candidate and the first sinn fein councillor to be elected to the town council since the 1950's. Sounds like we are in decline alright. We are the only 32 county party in Ireland, building the party in the south of the island will take time.....it was not so long ago we were a minoirty party in the north....things change.

Even though the treaty itself has absolutely nothing to do with immigration, there is massive anger over the issue at present. I know the treay had nothing to do with immigration, but people voted against it as a protest against immigration. RevokeNice: Before we voted on Nice2 we where told it was xenophobic to think we would get many people immigrating here from eastern europe and Ireland was littered with poster campaigns depicting poor eastern european children as propaganda for a yes vote.

Ireland32 How many seats did you win? What was the net gain? We both know the answer to that. Sinn Fein lost more seats than they gained.

People believe in symbolic steps. Most couldn't tell you 5% of the Treaty's content so they do things like that. It needs to be passed so Ireland can extract great concessions and has already received a separate protocol. At last, the overpaid Irish Taioseach is beginning to earn his bread rather than just draw his salary.

I lived in a mixed area everyone gets along the way it should be taigs and prods living together and really nice friendly polish people its guys like you who drag the past back, you come on here and talk about poles u have been in this thread since 8am are u sure u have work? or are u on dole claiming everyones taxes
