Link.

Fireworks have been thrown in clashes between football fans and the police after a World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park in Belfast.

Between 50 and 60 Northern Irish fans have clashed with police at a roundabout at the bottom of Tates Avenue, outside the football ground.

btw, the Swedish linesman was hit in the head by the NI supporters who threw an unidentified object soon after Jeleń scored for 1-1 (I guess those morons thought there was an offside and wanted to "punish" the linesman responsible for the decision), the game was stopped for about 3 minutes, then resumed, when they verified that there's no serious injury.
No comments about the game, except stating the obvious - Boruc was the Man of the Match, he really helped N.I to score twice :(

Northern Ireland Sports Minister Gregory Campbell, who was at the game, told BBC News one confrontation began after some Polish supporters unfurled a republican flag.

He said: "There were some Polish fans who introduced one of the Irish republican flags, that are supportive of the group that killed the soldiers and the policeman a few weeks ago
Read this for some shit. First that Guy is from the DUP party.
Because they produced a tri colour he is saying they were supportive of group. Biggest load of shit...He doesnt say about N Ireland fan throwing a coin at the linesman. scum

That is insane, are they so paranoid that Catholics will become a majority with the influx of Poles?.

(Click here) for the BBC link.

Superintendent Noble said
"We believe there was a hard core of Polish nationals who came to the game without tickets but with a very clear intent to cause trouble and disruption to genuine supporters and local residents," he added.

"We believe these troublemakers are not local; they have travelled to Northern Ireland with the express purpose of causing trouble."

Thread attached on merging:
POLISH FOOTBAL FANS GO ON THE RAMPAGE IN BELFAST

Polish football hooligans trashed a Belfast pub yesterday afternoon ahead of a Match between Northern Ireland and Poland. They smashed windows and cost thousands of pounds of damage inside the interior of the pub. Later they were caught on camera throwing fireworks at the Police and some Polish fans raised a Flag associated with the CIRA, (Continuity Irish Republican Army ) who were responsible for murdering two British Soldiers and a Police man in separate attacks in Northern Ireland Last week.

Many people were outraged at the flying of the CIRA flag and as a result some innocent Polish Families living in unionist areas had their properties attacked by Loyalist Thugs, ( The erection of this flag has outraged many communities in the North of Ireland and has caused suffering to many many Polish people who are trying to live normal lives.

The brain dead people who flew this flag have encited these mindless thugs to see all people from Poland as supporters of the CIRA, who are terrorists trying to bring down the peace process here in Northern Ireland.

Again no and you conveniently left out that a Polish man was shot too.

What does the CIRCA flag look like Marcus911?

I wouldnt just put the blame on the N.I fans only, Polish fans have caused trouble in the past. This was a big game for both teams, so nerves didn't last on both sides.

Hey mate you need to get your facts right, actually the Polish fans started the trouble here in a Belfast pub.. A few Polish fans flew a flag which supported the CIRA ( Continuity Irish Republican Army ) who murdered two British Solidiers and a Policeman just over a week ago.. This gives the mindless thugs from unionist areas an excuse to attack normal Polish families who they now see are supporters of the CIRA.. Idiots.

It was not CIRA but the so called "real IRA" they also shot and wounded a Polish pizza delivery man or are these details escaping your rumours?.

BBC Violence ahead of NI vs Poland match in Belfast.
Listen to minute 3:14.
"The northern Irish fans who tried to take on the police separately."

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------

I always love the way the BBC conduct their news.

Look at this page Click here, the first photo is of Polish supporters, with white and red(Polish flags)
Could have just have easily been the union jack (British flag)
But that would have given the "wrong message".

I'd love to know what a CIRA flag looks like. I've lived here in Ireland most of my life and have yet to see one........looks like the propaganda war is revving up a gear again.

Anyway looks like football was the loser all round on this occasion.

Not CIRA or RIRA but still a group that is determined to make a part of the UK Irish. A stupid thing to do by the Polish fans but no excuse for the violence.

Just to add to the topic...

Eirigi where handing out leaflets in the city centre earlier in the day, where probably hoping to cause trouble later... Guess the Polish fans walked into the trap!

Wetherspoon's pub = cheap drink = well known trouble spot = You could say there is fights there on any given day or night!

might help explain his bad game... other things to think about?

This from the man of the Match...

"to turn Windsor Park into a mini Ibrox" in order to rattle Boruc ... you can imagine the sectarian shite he had to listen to

Eirigi are a small political party in the 32 counties. They are not aligned to any of the republican splinter groups. They broke way from Sinn Fein when we chose to support the policing board (PSNI).

No, it didn't say that Poles started it at all. "Police in riot gear are trying to push the Polish supporters back along the road". That's called policing funnily enough, not pointing fingers.

This is great example of left-wing nationalist party. People often associate nationalism exclusively with rightism and this is very wrong. Erigi use typical communist slogans like "class conflict", "reactionary forces", "bad, bad, bad capitalists", "confessional state" or "Irish landlords". They seems to hope to end religious divisions among Irish people, most likely by abandoning religion. This actually crush argument about sectarian motivation of above mentioned incident. Their motivation is purely nationalist, on their website they write about "English occupiers". I must say that ideologically they stand very close to ideals of the French revolution. This Pole with Erigi flag must be some ignorant or a complete loser.

Thank you for posting this link, very interesting reading.

IF this is correct, it is something I found a lot with foreigners who came to NI, that they often have an idea of the Irish all being jolly chaps and go and down 20 odd pints of the black stuff and come away thinking the whole situation is black and white and the nasty old prods/brits are to blame for everything and never a nasty thing was done by anyone else... and what jolly fun it would be to start waving flags which they don't fully understand.

Even more ironic (if correct) considering the recent shooting of a Pole by dissident republicans.

An English lad I knew at Queens was once hassled by some Greeks, who started slagging him for all the things Britain had ever done to the Irish (they got a little bit miffed when he asked them about their own HR record with minorities). In the same block some international students thought it would be a good idea to hang a tri-colour from the window of the student halls. Not such a good idea as it faced a police barracks. A message was sent across the road by the RUC to say if the flag wasn't removed then they'd be across to remove it themselves.
