Why not, i suppose i had Polish ties for years in the UK but i never knew about this or any other forum, the only Poles that come here that have lived in England are mostly back in Poland. I mean we have what 800 UK citizens living in Poland right now and probably atleast 50 UK members who are active on this forum, but theres around 1,200,000 Poles living and working in the UK but only a few post on here and most of them have returned to Poland anyway.

The statistics speak for themselves really, Poles in England are so busy having a good time they dont even think about a forum till they have gone back. Thats my theory anyway.. I never entertained a forum for five mintues till i came here, its so boring and shite in this country.

Either that, or they're busy posting on a Polish language thing called britishforum.co.uk or similar, having mirror image discussions ;-)

The nightlife tends to be much better in the UK, right enough. You are never at a loss for good bars back home. The clubs in Aberdeen are well designed and have loads of drink options. You get all sorts but there isn't the same variety here.

If you are bored in Wrocław, don't try Gliwice.

Probably complaining about British shopkeepers psyching them out by being friendly and helpful!

If you are bored in Wrocław, don't try Gliwice. Definitely don't try Skierniewice (I heard a rumor that once they had a bar here).

Yeah. Like when entering the shop and a smiling girl greet you with hello? It can lead to a deep trauma. Believe me it would be better not to know everything what is talking about ;)

Or maybe they post on English forums (that would more make sense tbh).

I spent 3 years in Ireland and during that time I posted on an Irish board
called politics.ie
If I had gone to France, for example, I would most probably have found
a French forum to get information and meet people.

Golf...

If you're not strong enough for boxing, not fast enough for football and not smart
enough for chess then I guess golf is the only thing left for you ;-)

I just skimmed through few google queries and looking just at first page listings there was around 30 different polish forums about Poles living abroad there's probably much more of them. I used just one of them earlier www.emito.net Pretty big forum focused mainly on people living in uk/ireland.

When people stay at their homes sobbing their sorry assess on polish forums here over somebody fooling them over cutting a pile of wood they don't have time for doing interesting stuff outside.

sad truth but truth - most of the Polish people in the UK spend time on Polish language forums about UK seeking any info beginning with work, WRS, flats, benefits, bailifs to suing employers, landlords or estate agents; Polish shops/vets/GPs/lawyers or 'what should I do - I'm going back to Poland and I have unpaid mobile/broadband bill - will they get me there?'

There's no real interest in the country, meaning UK, itself; culture - forget it; diversity - forget it; language - limited; cooking/british cusine - forget it;

the only common topic I discovered recently was 'what do I hate about living in the UK?' and the common answer was too loud music, cr@p ringtones, bus drivers speeding and not stopping at bus stops and, surprisingly or not, Polish people behaving like rednecks - swearing on the tube/bus etc

take your pick

in my opinion, whoever went back to Poland probably lost interest in the UK (unless is planning on coming back) and uses Polish forums for their current interests; besides most people here seek information about living in Poland and there are not many who really know what some of you have to go through

Brits don't exactly know about the WRS, getting residency/marriages/citizenship etc either :)

I wouldn't be so sure poop, from the threads I've read on other forums (for instance emito) most were about recent events in their home cities, upcomming events, and casual chat about these cities - many of them indicated that some of them are interested in the country and culture. It is much more complicated then you put it, lots of different people with different outlooks. The only thread I've read about what do you hate in UK was if I remember correctly in here. And there's a big number of pole hating threads in here too.

And you know why there are not so many UK hating threads on other polish forums? Because they speak polish there, so there's no one to attack or nobody to retaliate and have a quarrel. If this forums were only for brits they would have got bored after the first week of Pole bashing without no goal to achieve with their driveling.

yep - multi
therefore it's British, not English
influenced by Scots, Irish, Welsh and various influences from former British Empire - here or abroad

what's wrong with my sentence?

frd

Overall I agree with you. I'm not saying there aren't other Polish people interested in the country they live in, but it's a not a huge percentage in my experience.

And yes, the fact that some/most of the forums are in Polish there's no way any discussion with Brits can be initiated.

Torq, I run rings round people in football, fancy my chances in a boxing match against most amateurs and have beaten strong computers at high level in chess. You were saying? ;0 ;)

The Poles didn't pass the etiquette/gentleman test for entry onto the course, my friend ;0 ;)

See u by the church in Zieleniec sometime in Feb I hope.... I will be the sad old lady in an army surplus parka who is still convinced she is 25..:)

Maybe the Poles in the UK are too busy working to go on a forum?...;)

There are those that both type a lot on the forum and enjoy nights out. I believe JustysiaS is one of those.

I am Polish, so I think it's my duty to answer the title question.
And the answer is simple - we prefer to participate in Polish language forums without any interference from the strangers.
If you would think for a second, you would understand - If you are an English-speaker, you would probably prefer to use forum in your own native language, don't you?

Polish people here - are just a gesture of goodwill. We even talk to each other in English on this forum as we consider it polite this way. Nonetheless - it's uncomfortable.
You asked - you've been answered.

why 1 million Poles in UK/Ireland, after 5 years here in particular have no English speaking Polish forums or websites or not comment here, even 0.1 % of Polish population in these countries?
Do we behave like medieval Jews in European cities? Ghetto mentality comes to my mind

Why would they participate in English language forums if they can participate in Polish language forums?
To turn your argument on its head, why isn't this forum conducted in Polish if it concerns Poland?

I comment here, does that count towards the 0.1%? ;->

then why the British poeple living in PL post on an English speaking forum and not on a PL speaking one?
It is somehow natural that if you are a Pole you'd go to PL forums, isn't it?

It has nothing to do with the numbers.
What enkidu says it simply logic, there aren't many PL people from UK on this forum because they post on PL speaking ones.
You wouldn't find a 'Dlaczego Brytyjczycy mieszkający w Polsce nie piszą na tym forum?' thread on let's say wp.pl forum, would you?
