No. It's about Ukrainian people pretending to be Polish in order to get legal work in the UK. Apparently it happens.

Then if caught they should be deported, same as with the rest of the illegals.

People with the chutzpah to survive illegally are often dynamic, risk-taking and hard working. In short, the people who we want and need.

No Jonni, we really dont need illegals, we have enough people in this country without more, we have plenty of able people, what we lack is structure and training schemes for my own countrymen.

But we do need immigration - so why not choose the most resourceful people? It sounds a bit ruthlessly Darwinist, but someone who's entered the country clinging to the axle of a lorry and survived without credit, benefits etc must be very resourceful indeed.

There are a lot of chances for education and development in the UK, open to all

People who have the right skills and follow the correct legal path to get here, have a goal benefit the country, those who cling to the axel of a lorry are just desparate and should be sent back to where the came from because most end up working for next to nothing and living under the radar, they add nothing whatsoever, they just provide unscrupulous employers cheap labour.

This is true, but not everyone is an academic, more technical schools are in the process of being set up, hopefully this will catch those who in more recent years have just fallen by the wayside.

Yes, and when Labour have their next "amnesty", they can tell the general public that there are no illegal asylum seekers in the country, these people will then vote labour out of gratitude, whereas, somebody with a dgree in medicine, research, engineering are a huge risk to the population as they are not stupid enough to vote labour.

The UK has allowed too many people to infiltrate and permeate through their culture. They have set off down roads that are very hard to back track on. To do so would be to admit wrong and they just can't swallow their pride!

Thats why the country needs a PM with some back bone. Wheel out Old Maggie, she was not every bodies cup of tea but she had some balls.

Wheel out Old Maggie

Aye, she will be getting wheeled out sooner or later - feet first !

So if the Union is going to the dogs - why not break it up ?

A lot of the issues on this thread aren't relevant to Scotland, Wales or N.I.

Would England not be in a better position to drag itself out of this mess if it were independent ? Local government for local issues ?

It still confuses me why people are actually against this - the best solution where everyone is concerned is for England to have the same powers as Scotland and to drastically cut down the size of the UK parliament in the process.

Mind you, the proposed 'Regional assemblies' were a complete joke.

First thing that happened when the present Scottish government was elected was that they cut down the size of departments and government Quangos. Up till then the Government were quite happy to appoint their chums to made up jobs and pay them handsomely.

Scottish MPs should not be allowed to vote on matters that dont concern them in Westminister.

Seems to me that while England has too many immigrants, Scotland doesn't have enough to sustain a workforce of taxpayers to support services that the community needs.

And the money saved was poured into frontline services that the English now complain about!

(no fan of the Lab-Lib coalition!)

This is what many English people don't understand - most Scots don't WANT to have a say about English-only matters. The way that Labour used the Scottish MP's to force tuition fees on English students was absolutely disgraceful - and this is why the SNP's policy of abstaining on English-only matters is the honourable thing to do.

I recall there was a huge fuss over the Fresh Talent Initative that McConnell launched, because it was counter to the claim made by the English media that the UK had too many immigrants. Just look at the fishing industry for instance - until 2004, they were struggling badly to find people willing to actually process the fish.
