athenians are still paying for their their olympics and how long ago was that.. not sure about china but i think they may still be in red over theirs.. atlanta isn't getting more tourism because of the olympics there... it's a waste of money to build all this stuff.. how about actually spending the money on things way, way, way more important then the games.. chicago as well as rio are loaded with slums.. i think people should come first.

Well i'm glad that Brazil (Rio) won the bid, if you want to see people who are passionate about sports then look no further than Brazil, i'm sure the games will be fantastic and embraced fully by the Brasileiros

plk123: exactly.. no one really can afford the olympics these days. i'd be ok if they were held in Athens for a while.. It would be nice to see the Olympics have a "home". The wastefulness of building these olympic cities is enormous. Athens would be perfect IMO.

Well, Rio was a good choice. They never had it in the south hemisphere - let them. Just like everything in life now,this one is just a "sportique" bunch of crap. Chicago rules anyway. :) I wonder how many murders will happen then. Chicago has about 500 a year, Rio has about 5000...will it change anything?

I wasnt for the Olympics to come here anyways, Im happy the crooked politicians didnt get thier way this time:) The taxpayers of Cook County Illinois will be better off in the long run:) Every project the Mayor of Chicago does goes overbudget and takes twice as long to complete as scheduled. Most construction contracts and jobs go to his political croonies or thru nepotism. The community wouldnt benefit they would just wind up paying for it all?? I think the Mayor should spend some money on a few new schools or maybe try to stop gang crime. Meanwhile hes laying off police officers? Mayor Daley is a Moron, its time we vote him out along with Todd Stroger!!!!! They probably would of won the bid if they didnt bring fat ass Oprah into the picture..lol Congratulations Rio, Its sounds like a fun place to go:):)

Tymoteusz: Who did nothing particularly wrong. I thought he was hilarious on the Playhouse. Other than a small Pot possession issue, I don't remember him being guilty of much, other than being the butt of a few jokes.

I think he got caught jerk'in the gherkin at an adult movie house. Pretty sure that was what cost him his show. He made some cameo appearances in movies since then. I always liked him anyways.

I am glad Chicago wasn't chosen. I don't think it was a good choice for a city anyway. USA is already broke we don't need to add to the deficit.

Rio will do fine.. The US has had the Summer Games 4 times I think. Let a S. American country get a crack at it. Love Chitown, always will but it's a got a lot of problems that need addressed.
