Looking for a place called home; staying in the US

eliza   Nov 8, 07, 21:36 /  #
Im Polish girl who traveled the world and still cant find a place called home... Right now Im in US (visiting) and I kinda like it here. Staying here illegally is not an option for me. I was thinking about studying here but its so expensive... How foreigners do that??? Since when they study they still cant legally work... Dont know what to do...

Hi Eliza
Welcome to the Forum. Since you're here, you can meet a nice, rich US citizen and marry him for green card.

Youll never get a decent job being illegal

Dunno about now, but when I lived in NYC (a long while ago, mind you) quite a bit of its economy was one big under the table deal, and some of it for good money too.

Its like that here too, mosts bars and restaurants will pay you under the table.

If shes looking to work in say the financial district froget it.

You can apply for a student visa to come study in the US, otherwise if you're on a tourist visa, there's not much you can do, unless you overstay your visa and upon return to poland, you won't get a visa for 10 years after that cute little stunt.

I'm glad that you like it here! But, unfortunately, it is very difficult for you to become a permanent resident. I'm Amercian and my husband is from Poland. Even though we got married it was still very difficult for him to a green card. We had plenty of evidence that our marriage was genuine as we had been together for years (both in Poland and in the US), yet the USCIS gave us a very hard time. Perhaps you can find an employer who can sponsor you, but he/she has to prove that no American citizen or resident can do the same work. It's difficult indeed!!!
You have a better chance of permanent status in Canada! I would go there if I were you!

Should you decide to call Maryland your home, I could help you located a place to live.
I am a Real Estate Agent who is also Polish and I know that Baltimore has their fair share of Poles, restaurants and great schools.

Please let me know if I can help.
