i shop wallys on milwaukee most often. they have pretty much everything.
i almost always buy all my bread or sweets at Pasieka Bakery, just down the street from wallys. i like their products better then andy's.

there are other places on milwaukee ave.. all around 3500 block or so..

once in a while i'll venture out to gene's sausage shop.... .... map to 5330+W+Belmont+Ave,+Chicago,+IL+60641,+USA <-- go to street view and look around.. it's the one with the cow up above the door. i think i may like their hot foods the best of the other delis i've been to.

they also have a bunch of booze but i tend to buy all of it at Avondale Liquors down the street from Pasieka. cheaper and they have a good selection too.

pierogi.. only at alexandra's. their address is in one of the threads. i always end up wandering around until i stumble into it. lol

so, you can get it all on milwaukee and close by.

Thank you both for your quick responses. The decision to make the trip this weekend was kind of spur of the moment, but I wager I should be able to find what I need, now. Much obliged.

The only thing that I anticipate being hard to find is Okocim's Palone beer. I tried it at the Taste of Polonia last year, but have not seen it since. Does anyone know where this can be gotten?

Joe and Franks and Gilmart both sell beer.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. After Alexandra's, Wally's, Gene's, and Avondale Liquors, my car's back end was riding pretty low! I was able to stock up on all my usual gotta-haves, and found quite a few new things to try. (I'm seriously considering buying another freezer before my next trip up, bringing me up to three stand-alones.)

I'll have to try the places on Archer next time I'm up. I actually grew up in the area, but have only ever been in Bobak's, and once to Joe and Frank's. I was never one for shopping trips; my parents and grandparents kept the supply of Polish food constant so I usually didn't pay any attention to where it came from (when they didn't make it themselves). Now that I live where there are no Polish stores, shopping has become a highlight of my Chicago trips. I'm just lucky that my wife indulges me in my marathon shopping sprees.

Right you were. I had heard that Okocim Palone was very hard to find, but I needn't have worried. After I bought my two cases they brought out more.
