The average food item travels 1200 miles. Fresh produce off season travels multiples of that. Even growing food in California has tremendous impact. The Salmon fishery is devastated by the over consumption of fresh water that doesnt occur naturally in quantity. Between fuel consumption and unintended consequences, demand for fresh veggies off season is an environmental disaster. IMO

True, i have seen the biggest pigs in the USA, huge, enormously gelly-like anatomy, eating mc donalds and never getting out of their cars

Well, as I've pointed out to you Euros about 800 times on here: Approximately 30% of the population is obese. Yes it's disgusting, yes it's very embarrassing. However 30% of 290 million = 87 million, which means 203 million people ARE NOT OBESE. So, 5 x the population of Poland and more than double the population of Germany.. ARE NOT OBESE. Supposedly the British aren't that far behind us at about 23% of pop obesity. So I guess there are quite a few European fatties as well? Feel free to share the love around.

I disagree, but lets move on. What is your solution?

Understand that I am not disagreeing with you, only trying to find viable solutions.

I think O'Bama should nationalize the feeding of Americans.

I'll have to dig up some European subjects... they'll likely have body odor steaming from them. Peeewwwww! Yeah we've got some fat people but damn at least they don't smell like an old sock all day. :- (

eating mc donalds

I suddenly feel the urge to take my jelly-like, Polish-American body to to McDonald's. I need to chow down, on my daily meal of 20 McDonald's hamburgers.

Honk if you love PF :)

Of course its real, I saw it on the internet. Now, a fat drunken bull-dyke with purple hair is possible in the states, but, this is all Europe. Just look at all that gibberish written on the wall. Prolly France or sumpin. :)

It's German written on the sign and yes that's Europe. Trust me, I've been there 3 times, plenty of fatties. That's why it's so funny when they laugh at us.

A lot of people go for convenience. It is much easier to pick up a dinner on the way from work than come home and start from scratch. Some do it because they hate cooking, some because they have no clue about cooking. It is more convenient to sit in front of a TV with a big sandwich, pizza or boxes of Chinese than spent the time in the kitchen.

A lot of people have beautiful kitchens, never used or hardly ever.

Americans buy ready made food because they actually can afford it. Restaurants, diners or even fast food anywhere in Europe is pretty expensive comparing to earnings, hence you've got to cook. Americans don't. Let somebody else do the cooking and do the dishes.
The abundance of all you can eat buffet style restaurants does not help the problem with obesity. People tend to eat waaaay too much, often because it's cheap, it is lots of it and it is on just about every corner.
The result: people got fat. This is not only American problem, but it is a problem for the entire western world. Poland is starting to see the "benefits" of it already.

So, it's time educate the the public about eating right and get moving. The government is seeking for ways to generate revenue. Tax the burgers as much as the cigarettes, alcohol and gas. Don't' forget to tax the 32oz coke either!

Agree.. consumption tax is the way to go. I would say chips and pretzels you buy in the grocery store too until the deficit gets paid down.

Yep pretzels.. you Wisconsin people have to contribute too. May as well tack on fried cheese too. C'mon man ..you don't want the Chinese owning Lake Michigan do ya?

Seriously, you put a nickel on everyone of those transactions it's lights out deficit.

You must watch too much tv my friend? I see nothing but fine women all day long, walking down the street, jogging or at the supermarket. People are more health conscious in the US than your stereotypical beliefs. Unless were talking about Wisconsin women then thats a entirely different story lol ..:)

And not you Krysia,
Youre one of the lucky ones:)

And likely heavily salted. Apparently salt helps you retain water.

hahaha euuwww, well unfortunately my good old Amsterdam is full nowadays of cheap eateries in the center. Get away a bit from the dam area and you will find delicious restaurants.
