Polish Consulate in New York - experiences?

I'm still waiting for my Letter of Acceptance before I can apply for my long stay (student) visa. Once I get that, I'm immediately sending my application to the Polish Consulate in NY via mail. The website says 10 day turnaround, and I was wondering if anyone could post their experience regarding the promptness of this consulate.
